Will the PowerFC work with a 13b Cosmo? I've been reading a lot about the two of these, and it seems like the PowerFC would be a lot easier to use and has the same tunage (I think I just made that up) ability that the Haltech does. Since I'm very uneducated on engine management components, maybe someone would like to tell me what would be in my best interests...

I am ******* RETARDED I DIDN'T EVEN SEE THE ECU DISCUSSION SECTION!

you're welcome

Anyone?

SPD Racing FC 03-01-2004 05:14 PM

I would go with a microtech over those 2 units, they come with a FC base map and use the factory sensors-

But where can I download Microtech maps?

And will it work with all of the existing sensors for the Cosmo motor?

j9fd3s 03-02-2004 05:51 PM

the haltech works with the stock sensors too. the pfc would work, but you need to rewire it and the fc/cosmo cas isn't compatible with the power fc

Would it be worth it to get a new CAS just so I could use the PowerFC?

j9fd3s 03-03-2004 10:15 AM

you have to make it. or buy an fc pfc

I thought you said the FC cas wasn't compatible with the PowerFC?

And if I did get a PowerFC for an FC, how will this conflict with sensors?

I really appreciate your help, this is a slow section. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

Midnightdriver 03-03-2004 03:50 PM

ok the pfc isn't compat. with the 13b-re cosmo. pfc also uses stock sensors I believe. the haltech uses after market sensors. you can use the 13b-re stock cas with the haltech (as far as i know) if not some one let me know. whoops I take it back the pfc is if you rewire it. but right out of the box it isnt. I was considering using it but didn't feel like messing with the wireing. the haltech comes with its own wire loom.

Dysfnctnl85 03-03-2004 08:56 PM

Wiring loom? That sounds like a lot of work, but I guess it doesn't matter what I go with, it's probably going to be a lot of work anyway.

yeah theres no bolt on solution for you https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png

the fd and s5 fc are the same except the fd has more solenoids (for the turbos), slightly different cas signal, and slightly different trailing ignition output (this isnt a problem), and the air temp sensor.

the fd and haltech use the same style air temp sensor, and everything else uses one thats electircally backwards.

everything else is the same, coolant temp, tps, etc

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png actually the haltech harness is very easy to understand when you see it you can tell what is what when you look at it. and it will work with the cosmo...I got the e6k not long ago and read the book right away..the install instructions are very easy to understand..the cas was difficult at first because I've never woried about it before. but the haltech works with the stock cas from what I understand...Now remember I know a little about reading a wire diagram and what not..I was a little worried about it as well..that and I hate doing wiring but i'm not to concerned after looking over what I got.

That sounds promising.

The only thing I don't like so far is the lack of HalWin software for it, get on the ball Haltech!!

Maybe the will debut it on the e6x...

Midnightdriver 03-04-2004 03:35 PM

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png yes that would make it easier to run. still the dos application isn't very hard to understand. but hell who really wants to use that anyway... I would love it if someone would come up with a commander unit for it like the wolf 3d or the PFC

Silver Ninety Three 03-04-2004 03:47 PM

Biggest problem I have with the pfc is no altitude compensation map and the temperature correction sucks.

Dysfnctnl85 03-04-2004 04:27 PM

Why doess the e11 (I think) use the Halwin software when it only controls fuel??

Midnightdriver 03-04-2004 04:36 PM

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png yes that is a function I really like about the haltech. the baro correction and the temp correction function. saves you from having to re adjust everytime you go up or down 500 ft or so..I'm not sure how it will do with my altitude range. it goes from around 4700ft to 8200 ft with in a space of few miles.
