How long after the initial "learning" process does the pfc take to figure everything out? the reason I ask is that I did the 30min learning process and the car idle surges...its only been like an hour since I put the thing in..

anyone else have a similar experience?

mine learned the idle in about 10minutes. every car is different. drive it around for a little while then see if it still surges

Did you drive it around?

rx7trix 01-28-2003 08:22 AM

Not far, just took it up to the body shop to get an estimate on my body kit. bout half a mile, didn't leave 3rd gear and stayed under 40mph

Did you clip the correct wires?

rx7trix 01-28-2003 09:33 PM

yeah...sorry I wasn't clear this pfc was taken out of another rx7 with the same mods as mine so it worked great. I added an fmic and larger radiator, and put on new stock turbos recently. I reset factory defaults on the pfc and ran the normal "learning" routine. this brings us all up to date.

now any non beginner advice or insite would be greatly appreciated.

When it is having trouble learing idle and it keeps surging here is what you need to do...

under the throttle body elbow there is a air jet adjustment, take a small strait screw driver and screw it in all the way closing it off... You may have to up the idol screw adj a little bit after you do this... It should learn idle in about 15 min or so after...

If it still has problems you may need to turn off the O2 feed back setting on the commander. It is a good idea to do this regardless...

You may also want to pull off the idle control valve on the back of the upper intake manifold and clean it out with brake cleaner, after it dries squirt a little bit of WD40 in there to lube it up so the valve can move and seal smothly...

this should fix you idle problems...

Hey Dragon and other ...

I'm just about to put in my PFC..so I just have plug it in..start the car and let sit at idle for 30 mins..that's it ??

My car is JSPEC like yours so no wires were clipped...the PFC was bought from and programmed by XS Eng in Cali.

TIA,

Richard

Did you get the PFC figured out? Is it idling well now?

Dragon,

can you explain why turning off the O2 feedback setting is good?

Why should we do it?

Someone on the other forum mentioned "desensitizing" it with the datalogit and changing the setting to 1.02.

How does this help with the idle and are there any problems by doing this?
