Hello,

This question is for you guys that have experience with Microtech ecus. just a little background, I have a 93 RX7 the engine was rebuilt and the ecu was changed to Microtech's LT10s with X4 box. Well, the car starts but soon after it starts the X4 box get extremely overheated. Another problem the car has is that when it turns on it starts flooded like it is not getting enough spark. Some of the other mechanics that we have talked to have said that they have had some problems with the X4 boxes overheating. Have any of you experienced this? if so, how did you fix the problem another thin that I have heard of is changing the X4 box for an MSD ignition.

Thanks,

I have not been able to fix the problem with the ECU so I am not sure how good or bad this ecu is yet. Some people we have talked to have said that the problem we are having is with the MSD Coils. Right now I purchased some Bosch coils so I will post what happens when I get them. I sent Microtech an e-mail and I never got a reply so their tech support is not great either. The people that have been helping me out have been World Wide Racing from Florida. I did not use the Plug and Play because my wiring was fery bad.

Can't you just replace the X4 and coils with LS1 coils that have a built in ignitor? Cheaper and cleaner install. Not sure why they would be overheating though unless you have the charge time too high or the settings wrong

The first thing I tried was changing the X4 box and that didnt work. The box actually got burned, or something because now it has a rattling noice coming from the inside.

We just tried changing the coild for the Bosch coild that are preffered by microtech and they didnt work either. I am thinking that the guy that put all of this together has something hooked up wrong. He is going to try setting up the LT10 followed by the X4 box followed by the 6AL boxes and then the coils and see if that works. If that doesnt work I think I am going to take it to someone else.

ohh, but I will let him know about LS1 Coils suggestions we have not tried that..Thanks...

Well, I finally got the LT10 and the 2 X4 boxes back from Australia and it turned out that there was a problem with the output signal in the LT10 ECU and both of the X4 boxes were probably messed up due to that. In a few weeks I will be finishing the car and getting it tuned.
