Didn't see anything on the megasquirt comps. I'm buying a poorly swapped 90 GTU that has the N/A ecu, harness, and a mas air flow sensor. Barely runs, keeps burning up alternators. Real question is Has anyone tried these? And what kind of results could I expect from it? Also would like to know how "friendly" they are as far as tuning. Thank you for your time, and if you know why this car would be swapped this way, please let me know

my s5 na motor runs on a megasquirt. it works great. there's plenty of writeups for it.

The tuning software is pretty similar to any other tuning software like emanage's software, I forget what it's called.

I will never use another ecu besides a megasquirt. They are pretty DIY but I love that, it makes you learn about your EFI system. They have the capability of any high end ecu, and they're way cheap. I modified my megasquirt that used to run my miata's 1.8 for rotary duty once I swapped in a rotary. That was the easiest part of the swap for me.

I run Megasquirt myself in my Miata, tuning with Tunerstudio software. I have to say its the best bang for buck by any margin, it has full standalone capabilities and costs a quarter of that. It has such a simple interface to use and really makes tuning it for yourself a lot easier. I recommend it anyday of the week and twice on the sabbath!

My Capella (Rx2) is Megasquirted and it is reasonably easy to work with if you know what you're doing.

As N3V said, it makes you learn about fuel injection which is great.

Here's a quick video of a celebratory burnout when I recently had some dyno time and got the tune dialled in.

I would recommend it if you're a tightass and love doing things yourself. I tick the boxes for both of these things haha.
