So I'm really new to ECU and this crap, so

I have a pretty new Apple laptop which I'd like to put into my FD for a fuel/engine management system. What would be the best way to do this?

I've heard that a PowerFC is the best way to go, but can the diagnostics be hooked up to the laptop?

What port do I need to make sure my laptop has?

When people do this in their FD's, where do they usually put the laptop? I'm thinkin the glove compartment???

Thanks in advance

you dont have to drive withteh laptop in teh car all teh time, the laptop is there just to tune it, once its done you dont need it.

pfc is good if u want to just plug it in, but the cars are gettign odler everyday and even FDs now have shot wire harnesses from all the heat and years of use. so if you are planning on gettign a standalone i would highly reccomend to replace the harness.

its more work to install somethign like haltech or microtech but atleast the wiring is new, which coudl sometimes be half of your problems. its been time and time again that i have seen wires break or their skin shatter and two wires contact https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png on the inide of the harness

Thanks for the response.

I have a new wiring harness...so is a PowerFC still the right way to go? Thanks again.

Power fc is the easiest to install. Just unplug 4 connectors from the stock ecu and plug them into their respective sockets (each one has a unique size). If you wanted to use this new laptop you might need software to support windows programs first, and then for power fc you will need the datalogit. For haltech or microtech, the install is more involved, but the software and support for laptop tuning is not only provided, it's essential.

i dont like the microtech too much, but it is simple to use and faster response then haltech using the laptop. haltech is much nicer imo. just alittle slow to use

haltech also has better resolution then the pfc

also wanted to add that if the install of the haltech dosnt bother you over the

PFC then i think haltech would be nicer.

Thanks a lot for your help...I think I'm gonna go with the haltech
