ok, here is my problem. the haltech runs a DOS based program and uses the serial port. the FJO uses windows and uses the serial port. the laptop i have for the car is a POS old IBM w/ a serial port as COM1.

haltech will not connect if i do not restart the computer in DOS mode. where FJO uses windows.

HOW THE HELL DO I GET THEM TO BOTH WORK AT THE SAME TIME FOR LOGGING? can i?

i am not very good w/ computers so please explain in lamens terms.

another laptop i have does not have a serial port....only a USB port. from my understanding i can not use a USB to SERIAL converter with the haltech due to it being windows based.

one more problem....i hope this is my last problem. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

how can i get the screen for my computer to take up the entire screen when viewing the haltech program? one computer (the newer one w/ USB ports that i cant use for haltech) it shows the entire screen. the one that i CAN and DO use shows it in a small box in the middle of the screen with a black outline. can i change this somehow? it is very annoying trying to read such small info. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

what you need to do is plug in your FJO into your haltech. it will datalog all the engine data plus a 0-5V input for AFR. all on the same page. i haven't done it yet but judge ito knows how to do it. that is just about the only easy way to do it

what kind of laptops ?? usually its an option in the bios for full screen dos

does Ito care to enlighten me as to "how"? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

and it is a IBM thinkpad....ummmm....i think its like 760DX or something.

the one that it does work on is a Dell latatude LS...but this is the one with no serial ports, only USB.

jon, you know computers. is a USB a windows only port or can it be made to work with DOS with a USB to serial converter?

theres an input wire on the haltech (spare a/d?) for a 0-5v signal. i dunno about the computer problems, not my bag

the way mine is setup is i just have to unplug the read out and plug it into the haltech. i haven't actually done it yet....... that is on my todo list https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
