Okay, so it's cold here, and my TII won't start. It usually spends most of the winter sitting in the garage (unheated), but I wanted to fire it up today and give it some exercise. Pulled a plug, and it's dry.



I hooked up the laptop and piddled with a couple of maps. There's a bunch of 'em like "post-start enrichment" and "coolant temp correction", "air temp correction" etc. etc.



Still no luck. I did manage a backfire out the exhaust. Sounded pretty loud reflected off the Chevy II floor pans I've got standing up just behind the 7. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif



The car is great during warm and hot weather, but just doesn't like to start when its cold.



My question is this: Where should I be adding fuel for best results with cold starts? What is a reasonable injector time for stock 550cc primaries?

basically theres 2 things to play with. both are coolant corrections (although for fine tunring there is air temp)



1. primer map. this is sort of like pushing the gas on a carburated car, it gives the injectors a squirt in the first little bit you're cranking it. this is sorta what gets the car started.



2. coolant temp. this takes the injector amount and adds a % to whatever the injecotr time is. this has something to do with starting, but it has more to do with the car running.



3. timing: the FSM says 5btdc. i find that when its really cold, thats too much, and cranking speed suffers, so i'll back it off to 0. also when the engine is hot it can handle more timing.



basically what you wanna do is add primer until it starts normally. best starting seems to be right on verge of flooding. this is also something that takes time, cause you change the map, start the car, let it cool, change the map, start the car etc etc. to really make it right it takes about a day, and then it'll take a tweak in the season you didnt set it up in.
