I have my car in peices right now and am starting to rebuild from the bottom up.I'm looking into ecu's and management right now and just wanted some advice from the guys. This is the setup...

Race ported 13b

Single turbo, but haven't decided yet. Most likely a t04r

R.E. V-mount

850 pim./ 1600 sec.

aeromotive FPR

walbro 255 fuel pump

hks ignition, etc.

full titanium exhaust staight through

and pretty much all other bolt on's

Was thinkingof going with a power fc, but have heard you can't run anything bigger than 1300cc injectors with it. If thats true I would most likely go with haltech but need some advice. What would you guys run and why. Anything would help.

The typical response is this: go with whichever ECU you have the best local tuning support for. I'm assuming since you are talking about Power FC that that you have a 3rd gen. I will freely admit I know very little about 3rd gens except what I've read, as I own a 2nd gen myself. But I've read many things about the Power FC and it seems of all of them to be the most limited and inflexible. I personally run a Haltech although I would give Wolf3d and the new Microtech LT8s (the s is important) a close look were I to buy one again. Do note that Haltech did recently release their windows software for the E6X unit, though, so its software is pretty much on par if not superior to the other unit's offerings now.

If you want to get serious and have a lot of money to spend, then an Electromotive Tec3 or a Motec might be units you want to look at too. Otherwise, keep it closer to the Haltech / Microtech / Wolf3D ensemble and choose what you've got the best support for.

the power fc is nice because it starts and runs like stock, the bad part is you have to use the factory wiring harness which is bad

Thats what I figured about the power fc. The thing is I don't know of any shops around here that know how to tune a haltech, or motec, etc. I'm in san jose, CA. If I did I would probably go with a electrimotive Tec3 or motec. Also, can you use either of those to on a daily driver car, or is it made for just track. I'm looking at driving the car almost everyday.

Well, that's the point of a programmable ECU. You tune it to how you want to drive the car! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png The physical properties of the engine setup are far more responsible for how perceivably "streetable" a car is than the ECU. The ECU is simply tuned to get the best performance (or lowest emissions, or whatever) out of the given physical engine. So any of those are well suited for any purpose, just the higher-end units offer more features and higher resolution for track-built vehicles which are more sensitive and thus need more precision in control (e.g. 125 rpm increments instead of 500 rpm increments for fuel maps, full 3D compensation maps, 3D throttle pump, etc...). Those are not necessary for a street car but may be important to maximize performance on the track under different conditions.

So what would you recommend for the street? should I go with a power Fc? And will a datalogit help with tuning?

i like the threroy of KISS (keep it simple stupid) this is a very good idea if you dont know what your doing and want to learn a good place to start would be a S-afc and then work up to a power fc or haltec or even tec-3
