what to do..

dyno the heavy show wheels with 275s... or..

the lighter stockers with 225s on the roller..

which would provide the better transfer of power...

smaller wheels will translate for more power, but the dyno we are using is a different type of dyno, you actually dont use wheels for it

was wonderin how much of a factor the tire contact patch is in comparison with wheel weight..

in addition to the wheel size..

FikseRxSeven 08-16-2005 08:19 PM

i meant smaller wheels, meaning less rotating mass

Why would you not want to dyno on the wheels you race in?

If you dont you are lying to yourself, I say dyno with the wheels you run in and KNOW waht you have, plus the "bolt on dynos" are NOT the greatest.

A smaller diameter wheel will equal a higher gear ratio, which will give Lower dyno numbers...

no it wont

small and bigger wheels will NOT make a diffrence on the dyno

FikseRxSeven 09-09-2005 02:55 AM

so you're saying that running on a dyno on 3rd gear would have no difference as running in 4th gear?

CletusFD3S 09-09-2005 03:15 AM

I agree, Dyno with the wheels you race with. if your looking for the most power then the smaller wheels will work best.

that is correct.

sometimes doing a dyno pull in 3rd gear on a turbo car will yeild in more since the intercooler and the rest of the engine bay can heat soak BEFORE you reach your peak power. this is just an example, but there are also a lot of othet variables that an operator can choose a gear best suited for his/her setup.
