I have a 87 TII and i was wondering what kind of mods put you in what times. Assuming you are a good driver

vosko 05-27-2002 09:19 PM

13.74@100mph. upgraded turbo @ 7psi, full exhaust, clutch, ecu, that's about it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Rotormotor 05-27-2002 09:52 PM

what do you mean upgraded turbo? and ecu?

vosko 05-27-2002 10:00 PM

garrett compressor housing on stock 89 turbo and panspeed light sport tuned ecu

Rotormotor 05-27-2002 10:16 PM

do you think it matter's much if you have the upgraded turbo? or will the stock one suffice?

Depends on how much hp you want to make. What kind oof ETs are you wanting to run? I'd say that if you're hoping to run low 13s or faster you should upgrade, but I don't know much about turbos. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

vosko 05-29-2002 09:57 AM

i think you can run 13's on stock turbo @ high boost..... don't know how long its gonna last though

yayarx7 05-29-2002 01:59 PM

13's are possible on a stock turbo. Requires toward 10psi and a lot of other mods. My buddy ran 14 flat on the stock turbo/motor/intercooler but the turbo was worn. BTW that motor blew up.

Rotormotor 05-29-2002 10:55 PM

I am looking to run low 13's high 12's maybe lower but still have a street car

yayarx7 05-30-2002 10:02 AM

that's easy, Upgrade the turbo, Port the motor, run aftermarket ECU, FMIC, bigger secondaries, stock primaries.

There you go, 12's on Drag radials, and streetable.

vosko 05-30-2002 10:03 AM

your gonna be better off buying a larger turbo and running it at low boost

Rotormotor 05-30-2002 05:16 PM

Well my plan is to get a street port 89-91 motor. Then do the whole intake, full exhaust, maybe up grade the primaries a bit, definatly upgrade the secondaries, Better, maybe bigger turbo , Fmic , lightened fly wheel. and clutch and stuff. OH AND BEST OF ALL A HALTECH E6K!

vosko 05-30-2002 07:28 PM

Hey, cool eyeball avatar, Cabrio.

I'm going to take my '88 tII to the strip soon. It's bone stock. I'm guessing it'll run about 14? I aim to replace the exhaust from the turbo back. I'm thinking eliminate the precat with a downpipe, run a high flow stainless cat, and a nice cat-back. My question: Will the free-flowing exhaust cause an increase in boost such that the factory fuel cut will be a factor? I don't want to spend over 1200 bucks on the exhaust and find out I've got to upgrade a whole poop-load of other stuff just so I can wind it out with my foot on the floor.

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

So you see my dilemma... :P

MAZDAROTARYPOWER 06-15-2002 12:09 PM

with my 87 i bought 88 j-spec which ck'd in with 95 psi on both rotors, Rotary performance downpipe and fcd, carter highflow fuel pump which did not require a fpr upgrade,ACT extreme pressure plate with 4 puck bronze clutch. also i used everything that came with the j-spec engine. the car ran 14.2@97mph on it's very 1st run spinning the tires off the line, i might have bettered that time but a certain member on this forum wanted to go home. turns out i hurt a coolant seal on the way home from his house which destroyed the rear rotor housing dropping my compression to 75psi on all 3 sides! i think a 13 was obtainable with a better set of tires since i broke traction everytime i shifted down the 1/4!

So you see my dilemma... :P

Go with the RB turbo back exhaust ($750), FDC ($100), 2 720 cc min secondary injectors ($115 each), and an Apex Super AFC ($320). It is around $1400 for all of that, but then you should be pretty safe if the S-AFC is tuned correctly. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Twin89Stangs 06-15-2002 04:21 PM

well I am running a stang...

Bone stock

14.86 @ 96mph

recent

14.42 @ 99mph

All I did was replacement factory clutch

Cold air intake

Electric cooling fan

and an oil change! lol

Oh the 14.8 was my first time ever down the track... I hope to see 14 flat...

I still need to get my exhaust fixed also. I dont think I will be able to pull a 14 flat yet... will need the exhaust fixed and maybe underdrive pulleys.

I am looking into the exhaust... my flanges are rusting on my exhaust and it sounds horrible right now... though seems to give the car nice topend! lol

sidewinderx7 06-15-2002 05:16 PM

im running stock 91 TII and my first run was 14.5 with my tires squeeling.

I hope to have atleast 13.9 next time i go up...

vosko 06-15-2002 05:20 PM

my TII ran 15.2 bone stock. +++ mods = 13.7 @100 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Twin89Stangs 06-15-2002 06:11 PM

hhmmm... faster than me vosko but speeds are about the same.... lol

I need to get some slicks some gear and some exhaust then I will be able to pick on you! lol

vosko 06-15-2002 09:33 PM

that was 13.7 @ 100 with 150k mile engine. wait till i get jspec and i put my slicks on it i want low 13's if not 12's https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png better driving will reduce your et the most. i have a STACK of timeslips on my desk from my TII. hell i even got a .500 light in it

I think you should be able to hit high 12's with slicks and the stock turbo. Did you get the NPR intercooler yet?

I got rid of alot of crap in my car. That's why everything is so easy to work on. The only weight additions I would consider are a roll cage and a 20B. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

I just plugged the holes in my rack. It's a little tougher than a manual rack, but it's not too bad.

Yeah, that makes sense. The 89-91 TII ECU's aren't as popular as they were a few years ago.
