Ya know...I never thought of that. That's a really logical question. I always went through it. Its a waste on street tires though...it won't "gum" up a street tire..the compound is too hard. It only helps on drag radials and a few Z rated tires.

Vosko..you launched at 7K+..are you mad? LOL! I launched at 5K in my NA...my best RT has been .65 which was my first time ever...go figure.

ask anyone that went to the track with me, turborotor, silver93tt. my RE92's were gummy after doing the burnouts it was GREAT. made a huge diffence. i always launch at 7000 sometimes 8000 . the higher i launch the better my 60 ft gets and the faster my time gets. i haven't broken anything yet soooo. i'll keep on doing it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I have trouble doing a good burnout and keeping the car in one place. Since the pedals are so close and set up for heel-toe, I find it difficult to get my size 13's to power brake the car. I can bo a burn out by just letting the clutch out semi hard at 2500rpm and flooring it. The last time at Cecil, I dropped the clutch and the damn thing went right to 8000 in a hearbeat, so I shifted into 2nd, went to 8000 again but the car started to go real sidways (track workers started to move https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR ) The car only has an 80" wheelbase, so it makes it tuff to keep straight. Anyone do their burnouts in 2nd?

I even dropped my air down to 15psi, but it just made it real squirrely. I'm running Kumho V700's. I hope to have some new treads for Atco https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png Anyone ever try the traction goop they sell to make your tires sticky?

Vosko - have you ever taken tire temps after your burnout?

when i do burnouts i heel toe you really need hold down the brake a good amount then punch the gas to get the tires going and keep the car still my open diff will spin both tires. i don't have a temp gauge for the tires but they get warm if i was guessing about 70-75 degrees after doing a few burnouts. they get to the point where they grab so hard they won't let me do anymore burnouts that is the point where i don't do anymore.

So do you burnout in 1st or 2nd gear? I could do it in 2nd if you think it would help. Kumho's work best around 190-210*F, so I would bet you are a little hotter then you think. If I make it to Atco, I'll bring the temp gun.

Ohh - I just had a great idea! I can reset my brake bias valve to get rid of most of my rear brakes for the burn out https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png Then crank it back down for the run. You can see it in the pic while I was building the car. It is just below the shifter (which is now 5"shorter https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR )

i do burnouts in first gear and just hold rpms around 7000. a temp gun would be cool https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png i have no idea what the temps were just guessing on when i touched them https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png man that thing looks cool nice work

Vosko - It's a shame that they won't let you take passengers on the 1/4 mile like they do for Solo II (auto-X). I've got a matching passengers seat and harness https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png . If this Atco thing pans out, I'll probably stay the weekend up there and hope to go cruising around in the beast. Oh, wait. I hate NO LEFT TURNS!!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/devil.gif

i would love to see your car run. i think it would be cool to have a passenger down the 1/4 see him go OH MY GOD WE ARE GONNA DIE!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/devil.gif

I need to mount a fake steering wheel and brake pedal. Most people I take out on the auto-x course start to pump the imaginary pedal and move there hands like they are trying to steer https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png The best part is that there is nothing to grab onto on the passengers side. You have to trust the 5pt. harness, and most people don't https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I just laugh and go faster. My wife hurt her neck last time she rode with me. Lets just say the brakes work well...
