Following my dismal DYNO RESULTS, I did a lot of contemplating on causes for the poor results.
It all boils down to: LACK OF PLANNING I let the frustration and disappointment of a poor result overshadow and cloud my judgement. This good have easily been avoiding by having a WRITTEN TEST PLAN outlining my objectives for the testing. It also brought to light that my car was not ready for comprehensive, meaningful dyno testing. ie: No test port for installing a wideband. I also lost an opportunity to test the engine with the 6-ports wired open. The next test session I will be better prepared with a set of test objectives and a contengenacy plans. John |

That happened tp me too. Its hard to decide if you are really ready to be on a dyno or not though.
I would love to do 3rd gear pulls on the street to make sure all is o.k. but the I have to concentrate on "driving" instead of the car itself. I was having boost issues in 3rd through 5th. Hard to tell until you get on the rollers. Embaressing none the less. Cameron at Pettit just looked at me after 3 pulls and said pull it off you have too many other issues to sort out before we can tune it. I felt like an idiot. Then I tought about all I learned just from those 3 pulls and realized NO it was good to dyno it then. Just learn from each session. Thats what the dyno is for. Working out the problems in a controlled enviroment. |
you should have axed me for a hp estimate, you're off by 4hp.
