the red lines are what i came to the dyno with , and the blue lines are what i had after i tuned the S-AFC. the car has racing beat header, presilencer and catback. also has an intake , pineapple 6 port sleeves and the engines is mildly street ported(mostly the aux ports).

what do u think of the AFRs?

how come you have NO hp from 7.7k tp 7.9k? lol. 165 rwhp isn't bad, stock they have like 136 rwhp. Oh yeah, how come the torque drops so sharply at 5250 rpm?

kahren 03-02-2003 04:10 AM

umm the port i did waspretty much just to get more power everywhere and keep it smooth not really to go top end. i am not exactly sure about the 5k area but thats where the vdi kicks in

and btw these cars dyno 128 to wheels stock so thi sis quite a few hp away from that

kahren 03-02-2003 04:50 AM

it doesnt have "rpm" cause the probe must have slipped off and not read it , its pretty normal, use your imagination to figure out teh hp at 7.7-7.9 k rpm https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

But thats too much work...(laziness showing thru)

vosko 03-02-2003 10:33 AM

very nice. i told you it was pretty fast https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

1Revvin7 03-02-2003 10:49 AM

Those are some good #s, espically tuned you gained like 10-15hp.

CrazyAssRX7 03-02-2003 10:49 AM

so how much horsepower do you think is at the engine...???

and yeah thats pretty good for some moderate mods https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png

j9fd3s 03-02-2003 12:14 PM

dude thats pretty good https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

15%-20% drivetrain loss---> 190-199@ the flywheel, thats awesome! Especially for the amount of mods!

kahren 03-02-2003 01:28 PM

i realyl belive that the FC drivetrain losses a FULL 20% so this will make it about 205 at the crank

stock NA s5 dynoes 128 at the wheels

1Revvin7 03-02-2003 01:32 PM

Well either way those are damn impressive numbers....

kahren 03-02-2003 01:38 PM

thanx

this is the diffrence btw from before and after the port PLUS teh addition of a header

Apex13B 03-02-2003 02:04 PM

now i want to pull my motor....but its raining

spiney360 03-04-2003 10:46 AM

i have an 85 gsl and it hit the dyno with 105 hp (stock) before i played around with it

the last time i dynoed it it was 150 with an exhuast leak and only running off 2 barrels

on the carb( dur my bad) https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png well i fixed the exhuast leak and the carb problem an it feals like

an extra 20 horses almost just when i stomp on it, but the clutch is sliping so bad when i stomp

on it the rpms just go up https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png

onboost 03-04-2003 12:03 PM

looks like you could lean it out even more.... like to the high 13 or low 14s! get more power!

this is the diffrence btw from before and after the port PLUS teh addition of a header

so how much do you think you got from the header just by itself?

(is 142.39 before the header and 153.9 after?)

kahren 03-04-2003 04:05 PM

142 was with bad 6 ports, they werent really opening all the way. problem is i added teh header and teh port at the same time and i cleaned allteh corbbon off the 6 ports so its all at once, BUT i belive i am really only makign about 5more whp with the port. then if i had no port and the same setup. the reason for that is i reayl belive that the stock AFM and the stock intake manifolds are way too restrictive/and too long to flow the air at the top end. i will be making a new intake manifold to accompany teh portign i have done. and i shoudl see major noticeble gains , oh and also i wll try to connvert the stock afm to a map sensor type instead, all this will eb done using the stock fuel system and stock ecu with just the afc to tuen it all with. i shoudl ahve all this done in about a month

Judge Ito 03-05-2003 05:48 AM

Really good numbers. You could lean it a little more. Now you have the answer to your question. Your peak power with your mods is at 7,300 RPM, when you drag race just shift at 8,300 to compensate for the rpm drop and you could still be at your power range. I think we need to get all this broken Rx7's fixed and have a Dyno Day... Congrats Kahren

Buzz 03-05-2003 11:53 AM

Is this an s4 engine or s5? Sounds like you have an s4 engine with an s5 intake. Which injectors are you using?

vosko 03-05-2003 02:02 PM

it is a S5 engine, stock injectors

kahren 03-06-2003 02:26 AM

thanx ito, btw i tuned to 12.8 and that still seemed a little rich, but i wnated to drive home https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png , i didnt wanna run any leaner this time, also onteh low end teh motor likes to run rich it seems going richer then mid 13s seems to loose power.

i am also conserned with the port and teh setup i have, i have seen numbers of 160 to wheels with the same setup as my car MINUS the porting.

i really belive the intake manifolds are restrictign a lot of my power, if u look at teh 5k rpm range u can see that the motor wants to make more power

but for some reason cant. i think this is the manifold problem, once ported the manifolds can not flow enouf to benefit the porting. i belive that if i swtich over to a shorter style manifold i will get MUCH more power at teh wheels. i am in process of designing my own manifold that will go between teh lower intake manifold and the stock throttle body. no more vdi, but stil keepign the 6 ports for low end.

rx7machine 03-06-2003 08:13 AM

Looks good man.

onboost 03-07-2003 02:10 AM

the stock upper intake is pretty good right? flows will, and has that variable intake thing, if you make another one, wouldn't it hurt the torque number?? the low end...?

i think the lower intake is more restrictive, the way it shrinks down and all the curves... But i do agree the whole intake system should be improved... the shorter runner will get a lot of peak hp advantage.. but the car might seem slower or has much less usable powerband. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png
