Maybe I just missed it. But it seems to me that no one is importing RX-7s from Japan. Anything over fifteen years old you can import to Canada, so that gives you a pretty good selection of TII's.

The average TII in my area (haven't seen very many admittedly) goes for $8k to $12k. Whereas you can get, for example from Import Concern ( http://www.importconcern.ca ) (almost in your backyard Luis) a nice TII for around $6k, and for all practical purposes the only difference is that the steering wheel is on the other side.

C'mon people get with it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

When it comes to RX-7's in canada, people are lazy. They'll buy the car, beat the crap out of it and sell it. That's pretty much what everyone does, or just keeps it stock. They dont BOTHER doing it.

ColinRX7 03-10-2004 11:23 PM

The problem is the registration and plating process. It's different for each area.. Could be costly too.. I don't know anyone who's done it.. It's hard to ask someone how they did it and then do it yourself..

I want to import a RHD car (as does everyone), but I think I might get around to it realistically in a few years.. I have looked at pricing!

If things go as planned this year I will have done it - I'll planning to get a Skyline in fall.

It isn't difficult, quite a few people have Silvias etc. already. If you're interested go to www.gtrcanada.com . There's quite a bit of good info and knowledgeable people there. The guys who run Import Concern post there as well.

14 years ( meaning the car needs to be 15 years or older) is the ban on cars that are NOT desinged for the Canaidan/US market place, this is not really a 'canadian' law this is an agreement with the auto makers from the US and Japan to protect thier market share. The only law canada has that is different then the US on import laws is that if the car is UNDER 14 yers old and it's given US complaince (see; motorex skyline US approval) it's still not allowed into canada.

However it IS possible to import a newer body out of country car, you just need to know HOW to go about importing it, and then getting it insured under the right designation, there ARE people running around Ontario, in EVO VII's, 98 STi's, R34's even..

Insurance is definitely a major concern since most insurance companies don't have anything to compare most of these cars to, i.e. Skylines.

Since they let R32's in they have been selling for 20g's a piece.Nuts priceing for such a old car.Althought most of them have 70,000kms on the odometer.

www.jns-imports.com

fairly decent pricing

Oh please not another Skyline. Im sorry but i dont see whats so special about these cars. Everyone wants them just cause we dont have them. Now you can bring an 89 over, big deal it looks like a wedge. FC has way nicer styling then the R32 IMO.

There is a white Skyline here in Hamilton and a black one comming. When i looked at the skiyline it just reminded me of a older 240 trunk with out the pop up lights.

By the way on the topic, there is a right hand drive FC here in Hamilton. I have never seen it personally but my brother has a few times.

find out where they are getting these cars from? maybe they could import some JDM parts....

nismo convert 01-14-2005 11:13 AM

www.tigerjapanese.com will import parts fairly cheaply i believe

k_flip1 01-14-2005 11:49 AM

I am getting out of the Navy in June and will be importing both my RX7s. My FC drag car is going back race only and will cost less than a thousand to import, and my FD will be imported as a street car and will cost 6000 for shipping and the required modifications. So, ther will be two Japanese RX7s in Phoenix in the near future.

I just have my parts sent to my U.S mailing addy. Cheaper on shipping and saves on brokerage fees. Just have to make the drive over the border to pick it up. I have a box comming confirmed by Jason (JT-imports) now so its christmas all over............. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

It is probably due to insruance reasons. I don't even want to think of what my insunrace company would say if I asked for a quote on a 89 Skyline GTR that is already modded RHD only from japan.

Insurance would be wickedly expensive same with all the inspections, the rx3 i brought into canada from the states needed a provincal inspections and a national inspection, then it needs to be inspected by an engineer to because of the age or some other bull ****.
