89 Rag 06-13-2004 11:29 PM

Corksport sells it.

Mazdabation 06-13-2004 11:29 PM

Did you do your own job? Cause i just did some reading and everyone says it was the worst task at hand!! on Rob Robinettes site they say its not something to tackle for the light hearted

89 Rag 06-13-2004 11:36 PM

I did the FC myself, wasn't a hard job at all, of course an FD is a little more involved but it's the same basic principle, I don't see why you couldn't do it yourself.

The only hard part is getting at them phillip screws. I strip two of them and had to use the good ol' hammer and cold chisel!

Other than that take your TIME! taking those old hard brittle vaccum hose. Mine was like hard plastic and not rubber anymore.

I twist them hoses and spraying some WD-40 before I pull it off. Never broke any nipples on any solenoids. I ended up with the one that canadian tire sells.

let me know if you need help

TYSON 06-14-2004 11:08 AM

Yah, the worst part is breaking the nipples off the solenoids.

Removing the emmissions stuff at the same time ensures you have plenty of spares for the turbo control ones. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Mazdabation 06-14-2004 11:53 AM

Thanx guys! well it looks like ill give it a try then....Colin how much do you want for the silicone you have?

mr.zoom 06-14-2004 01:35 PM

More than that. The air control valve that the air pump feeds to in particular.

Mazdabation 06-14-2004 11:25 PM

Well i guess i should pull up my sleeves and throw on my lucky thong...errrrr, ahhhhhh oops, you didnt read that part. Try and tackle this mess and hope it fixes my boost issues. Man this is gonna be like throwing me in a nucular facillity "dont touch the red one............."

TYSON 06-14-2004 11:31 PM

It's not that bad. Best if you can take off one at a time and replace it with new immediately.

Just want to make sure i get everything that should be done in there on top of the vac lines

yes sir!

ColinRX7 06-15-2004 07:54 AM

LOL Why is my garage special?

I have two sizes.. The regular size which is all over the car (I have 20 ft left) and I have 10 ft left of the slightly larger size.

I need maybe 2 - 3 feet of the smaller size and that's all I need.

mr.zoom 06-15-2004 08:58 AM

if my memory serves me right, you need a lot of 3.5mm at least 15'.

and others??

I pretty much used up all the hoses that vibrant has in their kit to replace all my hoses

Mazdabation 06-15-2004 11:00 AM

According to Robs site you need 35-40 feet of 4mm and 10-15 feet of 6mm.

**** thats a lot of freaken hose....

Mazdabation 06-15-2004 11:35 AM

Hose teq contains........

NOTE: HoseTechniques SVH kit contains:

- 40 feet of 3.5mm (all small solenoids).

- 15 feet of 4.0mm (Windshield washers and boost controllers).

- 16 feet of 6.0mm (larger air lines on engine).

- 4 feet of 8.0mm (larger air lines on engine).

... and SuperCutter, SuperSlitter, 120 Ties, decals and warranty card

So there is extra for airlines etc. Do you think its worth the $118 U.S plus shp, or should i just buy the feet needed from the roll at performance shop?

TYSON 06-15-2004 11:42 AM

I didn't use near all of it. But I only had the 4 fuel and boost control solenoids left after. that means I took out like 8 solenoids or so.

They give you lots, it's nice hose, you can get nearly any colour, it comes with a cutter. It also came quick. Up to you.

ColinRX7 06-15-2004 07:44 PM

The "kit" I got was for redoing an FC3S, I wasn't sure how much you needed for an FD..

I should have assumed it was an extra 30 feet if it's an FD LOL!

Mazdabation 06-18-2004 12:38 PM

WTF. I called a few places and they only have imperial, no metric. Is it possible to use imperial instead of the 3.5-4mm and 6mm? Or will it not fit correctly.

It's rubber dood. It stretches.

1/8" will work fine. use 1/4" for the bigger ones
