Ive spent the last week stripping down my 7. There is no trim, and no side glass left on the car, just the windshield. The whole thing has been wiped down with paint thinner and a scouring pad.

I did find one spot of rust that will need to be taken care of. It will be mostly hidden by the rear side light, so it doesn't even need to be fixed well. Hells, I might even do it myself if I get enough time this weekend. Other than that the car straight, and rust free.

I want to get the car painted "1971 Corvette Brands Hatch Green" Solid, non metalic colour.

So, here's the question: Is there somewhere I can take it to have it sprayed on the cheap? I'm paying cash, and the paint doesn't need to be show car-perfect. Maybe just "as good as factory".

Everyone is quoting $2000, though I've had a dealer friend beat up his body guy and get $1500. Does anyone "know a guy" that will spray the car for less?

Just asking, since it's so dead in here!

Maaco

The paint was good, just a little sloppy on the masking and faint overspray on the wheels. This was IROC Blue on my old Camaro with clearcoat. $1500

With the prep and paint you've choosen you MIGHT be able to get $800.

Pickup a copy of this weeks Buy/Sell, there is a guy in there that is called 'strictly detail' or something(quarter page ad). Anyhow, I called him for a price on a same colour paint job, no door jams, he preps and paints in base clear - he quoted about $1100. He said he has a downdraft booth but I haven't checked out the facilities and can't find my Buy/sell at the moment.

Most slam, bam, thank you maam, paint jobs will cost at least $150 a panel. Maaco will do a fair to poor job, unless you do ALL the prep, body work, and masking.

Thanks for the tip. Good to see you making the jump to "the good forum"

Oh, my ticket trial is set for April 1st. Getting the cops evidence was priceless. I don't want to jinx it, but I have developed a pretty good arguement. I'll tell you more about it after the trial
