A friend of mine went for a test drive the other day and is now hooked on rotary's. He drives a HSV clubsport, which has a powerband that kicks in about 3000rpm, so he figured the turbo lag on the s8 would be similar....haha how wroing he was. Almost shat himself when the boost kicked in and pushed his head to the back of the seat.

So anyway, now he's swapping his clubby for a s7. straight swap. (s8 is about 60K, s7 is about 40K, clubby is about 40-50k)

serpent12 03-19-2003 03:38 AM

is he just buying it from an import centre?

You should talk him into one of the Oz delivered SVII's

rx7machine 03-19-2003 08:13 AM

s8?s7? whats all this bussniess?

rx7machine 03-20-2003 08:26 AM

I'm guessing the Series 7 is '96-'99 and the series 8 is '00+ not sure though..

drifter 03-20-2003 09:46 PM

Well, in aus we dont use the gen 1(fb), gen 2(fc), gen 3(fd) names for our rx7's, cos me only get one model type per year. For example, Feb 1979 - Oct 1980 is a series 1, Nov 1980 - Sept 1983 is a series 2, Oct 1983 - Dec 1985 is a series 3 (thats the 1st gens) then Feb 1986 - July 1989 is a series 4, but it gets hazy here cos we got a few different models, (ie convertible, non-turbo), then a series 5 is a turbo II (July 1989 - Nov 1991) and that the 2nd gens, then 1995 was the series 6 , 96-99 was series 7, then 00+ is series 8. anything past 1995 is an import because mazda australia stopped officially selling them in 1995. (i think-according to their website??)

So that means I own a series 2 and a series 3, which are 1981 and 1984 respectively. Our cars (1st gens especially) didn't come in gs, gsl, gsl-se models, it was just one type. They are all optioned up like gsl-se's. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

The FDs started in 1992, and Mazda Australia sold them untill 1997.

The 97' Australian Delivered 7s are very rare though

Yea I think that's only the S8, those spoilers are real nice tho, they match the rear end of the car perfectly
