Rather quiet in here... everyone must be at the pub

Wooffinn 10-17-2002 07:49 AM

Just got back from there Robbomaz!! I don't know where they've all gone.20b man, what's it in??I've been in a gen 1[sorry mate series 3 , I forgot we're in the aussie section now!!] with one fitted and it was bloody awesome! I've got an old B2200 ute as a workshop truck and everyone in the club trying to convince me to 20b it. I think the poor old thing would rip in two.

Robbomaz 10-17-2002 07:56 AM

Mines in an old 82 HB Cosmo. Posted some pix in the other thread in GD. Mate here has a 20B in a S2 7, but they are impressive in any vehicle, even the std JC!

Wooffinn 10-17-2002 08:16 AM

Yeah you're right definately a wild engine. One of the guys in the club has just registered one in his Rx3 coupe. He fitted a Td06 hybrid turbo and I'm aching to go for a drive in that. Our last cruise/race was a bit wet so he left it at home. WUSS!! I'm sure it will add a new description to the word 'DRIFT'

Hey Robbomaz,[it's gone quiet in here again!!], what's the Mazda/rotary scene like there in WA? Obviously some wild 20b powered rockets flying around. Over here on the east coast, once you get out of the large cities, unfortunately they're getting scarce these days. Pity, but I suppose that's how it goes as they become rarer. And with all the imports now[certainly here], it's killing off the popularity of the mazda's. Is that happen over there??

Robbomaz 10-26-2002 09:45 AM

A few rotaries, but far outnumbered by the Silvia/Skyline clones (We are Borg, you will be assimilated) Plus, Mazdas RE range is old tin now & FD's are too exxy, FC's don't appeal to many..

Wooffinn 10-31-2002 06:21 AM

Hey Robbomaz, sounds like a similar story.A few seasons ago, our local dragstrip started a small car championship. Obviously at the start rotors were the go, but now it seems it's a nissan event. Even the Jamboree has now been open to 6cyl skylines. Don't get me wrong I love Skylines, but all these events are 4cyls and rotors. I suppose it's the new trend in oz. I think we're a dying breed Robbomaz, guys who make their own fast car and not just buy one.

Adelaide is getting about the same, although 1 good thing is that, s4/5 turbos are over that 15yr old import rule, and you can bring'em in for less than 10k although they are getting damn common, every second P plater owns one over here, I'm not complaining though...more spare parts

Hey Methanol, that's one positive I suppose. Hey the way time seems to be flying past at the moment, in a couple of years, series 6's will be 15 years old. I'm still flying the old school rotor flag. Our editor in the car club has had his series 1 Rx-2 since new[yes since 1971!!] and at the recent Jamboree up here, there amount of younger guys that had never seen a twin dissy rotary engine frightened me, maybe I'm just getting old!! I bought one recently from a garage sale, that the guy thought was a boat engine for $20!

Just thought I would share that with you fellas. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

ehehe, yeh twin dizzys are getting pretty old, I'm flying the old school flag also, although she's still not driving, hopefully by the end of this week!!! Picked up a whole heap of RX-2/Capella parts for $80 today was very pleased https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif Still looking for some front seats though... The dude I picked the gear up from says prelude seats fit RX-2 rails perfectly aswell as Ford probe seats, so I'll be looking into that https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Have you got some pics of your baby? love to see some!!!

Wooffinn 12-10-2002 05:58 AM

Hey Methonal, I'll have a hunt round for some photos. My digi camera packed it in recently[one too many car show dust car parks I suppose] but our car club should have our own site up and running very soon with all sorts of pics. It's a pity you're down in Adelaide mate as I've got Capella parts sitting around everywhere. As they become rarer, I tend to buy the whole car and drag it home rather buying a couple of parts off it. Plus then I can help other fellow Mazda nuts with bits I have in the back paddock. Ah the advantage of living on acreage!!

methanol 12-13-2002 09:36 AM

Finally got some front seats, one of my mates crashed his brand new Prelude (it's a complete write-off) and to my great delight, the front seats bolted straight in https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif There really comfy and I got'em for next to nothing, so just a hint, if you want some nice seats search the wreckers for Prelude ones (old and new ones fit), they literally bolt straight on to the RX-2/Capella mounts https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Wooffinn 12-15-2002 05:38 AM

Hey Methonal, thanks mate. I definately wouldn't of picked prelude seats to fit. What year model exactly am I after??
