Title says it all, I am soon to be in the market for both and was wondering what you guys would do. This is to cover everything, engine, turbo, wheels, brakes, suspension, electronics ect.

The engine will prolly need a rebuild to support more power and I can pull the engine and send it to get rebuilt. Where would ya reccomend that? I can also install most of the parts and go to rotary performance (I live 10 miles away) for tuning.

I'd do the reliabilty mods and basic power upgrades to your existing motor.

Radiator $350

Fan Mod $5

AST $100

Intake $300+/-

Catback $400

boost controller $30-300

ECU $400-1300

DP $150

HF cat/Mid pipe $125-375

IC $600-1500

igniton $400

Suspension $900-2000

Wheels/tires $1700-3000

On the low -end that's: $5,460

I'd then drive the car until the motor NEEDS to be rebuilt and then transfer all those parts to it and get the rebuilt motor ported, w/ upgraded coolant seals and oil passages. That's a good $5500.

I would sell the car and put a nice downpayment on a house. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Tyson! You're no fun.

Hmmm... I think I'd sell it and buy one of the last Camaros.

TYSON 09-19-2003 02:40 PM

Yes, no fun. And nearly broke. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I thought about a 2002 Camaro but insurance was too much so I bought FD

single turbo conversion.

FikseRxSeven 09-19-2003 03:16 PM

go single

alberto_mg 09-19-2003 03:49 PM

**** single. i like twins. they spool up faster for street driving.

i'm with jpandes and TYSON. Its more comfortable to sleep in a nice comfy house than an FD. You also get more ***** and tax writeoffs.

Why would you tear the engine down? Stock apex seals will support 39+ psi. Only reason to tear the engine down is if you have a lot of miles on it. Otherwise keep it in there. Unless you plan on racing it, I would worry about porting either. I went 10's on a stock reman.

This coming from someone who doesn't have a single turbo. Once you drive a single turbo FD...you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner. Stock twins suck for a whole number of reasons. Going single was the best thing I ever did.
