No pics yet, and I'm tired of telling the story, but I need some help from anybody who knows how to work an insurance company.

My FD needs a new face.

I want the 99 spec front and new headlights.

Do I get the quote first and buy the parts myself?

Thanks fellas!

Yeah. Have them cut you a check and then buy the parts yourself. How bad is it damaged?

If the paint isn't in really good shape tell them that you want the whole goddamn thing painted. "It won't match up" is what you have to tell them. Be a real pain in the ass and they will usually give in and give you what you want.

You need a person who owns or works in a good body shop to write a good estimate, too often things like a alighment and **** are not in there.

Make sure you have them write every single part under the bumper cover.

A word of caution: some insurance companies wont pay you for every part until you actually buy it and provide invoices for such. Also take the car apart after your initial estimate and see if any suppliments need to be added for any damage that might not have been seen at first.

When my Lexus got hit on July 3rd, they only wrote up for $4950.

They left out a bunch of **** like the other headlight, new front rims, and some other ****, they would only pay me after I bought the parts and provided invoices. They paid with 2 check later, one that I just got 2 weeks ago believe or not for a grand total of $6200 or so.

They will not pay to paint your whole car, trust me on that one, they will pay to blend in adjoining panels and thats it. You can foot the bill for a whole paint job from there if thats what you want.

Well the paint is pretty fresh already... I really hope they can match it. But another fresh coat couldn't hurt!

Damage isn't that bad. Passenger headlight cover broke. Front bumper cover on passenger sidesmashed in, and the passenger fender pushed back and creased.

Hood is fine. Damage didn't make it past the fender. Could have driven it, but the inner fender was rubbing a bit on the tire.

Does the 99front look good in Vintage red? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I'm pissed, but I had a few fucked up spots on the front anyway..

Thanks for all the help! Maybe I can get out ahead enough to get some **** polished... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I'm in the same boat as you man. My FD needs a new face too. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/blackeye.gif My passanger pop up light also broke off...WTF.. but I have a brilliant black FD. I'm also gonna get the 99 front bumper. But I think I'm going to get the entire 99 spec kit from SR motorsports and probably the scoot hood too (more than likely the replica) My car's probably getting an entire paint job. :bigthumg: Some insurance companys are different. I'm using Allstate. I think they give you something like 75% of your cars value before it's considered totaled. Good luck. :bigok:

I would follow Robs advice. I work within insurance as well athought not with cars.

They will only pay what they deem as their liability. Your entire paint job is not their problem.

It shouldn't be a big deal to match the paint close enough. Unless your paint was faded which it isn't. And if it were it wouldn't

be their fault anyway.

Can you tell I hate dealing witrh fraudulent claims yet?

I deny tons of **** that people try to pass off as legitimate damage.

The 99 front would look killer on your ride.

Get Pettits Fiberglass one if any replicas.

It should be the best one.

If you decide to get some polish work done send me a PM

Sorry about your car , It could be worse. You could have lost your liscence for 90 days like me.

With that damage I would say they are going to pay to paint the bumper cover, headlight cover, passenger fender. They will blend into the passenger door and the drivers side fender, the hood should get blended in, as well as the other headlight door.

Wait and see what they offer before you go saying something like "ill pay to get the hood re-painted" because with that damage you described they have to blend the adjoining panels , its all computerized now anyhow so its pretty hard for the adjuster to **** it up.

At the very least you will need a new bracket for the passenger side bumper cover, make sure thats written in for, none of this straighten it out bullshit. Make sure the metal support behind the bumper where it attatches to the radiotor support is not damaged.

Make sure there is some frame time in there to check the radiator support and the frame itself to make sure nothing got out of wack because you said the fender got pushed back a bit.

My car's repairs were paid for in full by the other guys insurance company so they dragged thier feet when it came time to pay, it took 5 months to get paid in full. I did have a Infinity I35 for a rental though for 35 days which was fun. Hopefully you get paid quicker then I did.
