Is wrapping the Downpipe and Midpipe worth it? Anyone tried it?

I wraped my DP it does lower the temps a little on the EGT as I could see....also under hood temps went down a pretty decent amount. I've heard if you wrap them then they will crack. I haven't had any problems with mine so far. So it may just be a myth.

supposedly it helps keep the heat and velocity in the exhaust, so you gain a slight amount of power, but ive never seen any real testing

It's ok to wrap things like the downpipe that are made of steel, it won't crack, and it will lower under hood temps. I would not reccoment wrapping anything cast iron, like the exhaust manifold. Cast components do not like getting heat trapped around them, and they could crack. for cast iron, I would get a shield to go about 2 inches above it to keep heat from rising up, but still allow it to pass down and back

That's what I was told... But thermo-wrap is pricey!

i've heard about a lot of chevy guys wrapping their headers and finding fissures a few months later. Chevy's have "cool" EGT's too

You best overall bet is sending the DP to Jet-Hot, and having it coated. Its pricey, but very worth it

Any Wrapping supposedly lowers Underhood temps like mentioned before and

it can increase HP.

I have my Turbo manifold, and downpipe wrapped, stunk like crap for a day or 2, and any time it gets a little wet. Also I only recommend wrapping them if the parts are already out. JMHO

i'd just get the ceramic coated.. my friend got his lower and upper intake manifold ceramic coated on his race car for like 100$. someone here in FL does it.. i'll ask about it if anyone is interested in sending stuff to this guy?
