Ok, when I'm at normal operating temps, and I pound it... Like a 2nd gear WOT into third... My temps go WAY down... On the stock needle... I'm sure this is good, but does anyone else see that?

Dude, you've got a better chance of getting an accurate water temp reading from some tea leaves than you do with the stock gauge. It's about useless. If you're temps are going down, I'd be concerned. It's probably just the gauge being the p.o.s. that it is.

Yes that guage is so slow it's ridicoulous. Not to mention the fact that it probably has a 30 degree leway. When I overheated mine the needle never even budged.

what did your AM temp gauge say ?

9BASE3 09-30-2002 03:56 PM

Well the AM temp gauge is INOP. Sensor took a **** I think... Or it's just shitty... Like my boost gauge. But the stock gauge has actually been ... well sorta helpful... I watch it warm up, and can see when I turn the fans on... It goes down JUST A HAIR... But who knows...

oh..........

if it's wat temp in a rotary engine there is no f'n way in the world that the temp is going DOWN.

it's going up- way up. rotary engines were designed to explode and that is what your engine is trying to do. tell him vosko- you know what i'm talking about.

turbovr6 10-03-2002 03:01 PM

right before my engine blew my PFC read 133 degrees celcius, then 10 sec. later it was just 3 lines :(

Well, it sounds logical enough... I mean, as I accelerate, I get more airflow to the radiator, and the water pump spins faster...I think.. The fans are on too... I know the turbos are making MAD heat, but most should go out the exhaust, and into the intercooler... Underhood temps are just pushed out by the fans.

It does seem weird to see the temp needle move down, however I don't think it's impossible. I just wonder if anyone else may have seen this before...

My engine isn't going to go. I have a streetable setup, with 10lbs of boost. I seriously doubt I'll see anything pop. And I have 64 on the clock. Glass is half FULL with me baby. Sure, it's normal too see a 7 go downhill at this age, but I take good care of mine and it WILL last. Matter of fact, I've had a PERFECTLY running car for over a year now. Daily driver. Snow, rain, whatever... I even drove it for 1000 miles once, only stopping for gas. Well, and to check the oil!
