i have a quick question...you may know you may not. i have a 93' Mazda Rx-7 and its been sitting since about 1999 (estimated) and just yesterday i tried to start it and it wouldn't kick over.....checked the fuel pump and it didn't work, then after i got that working it started up and ran for about a min. then it started to miss, then it shut off. i cant figure it out but every time i start it it dies about 3 sec. later. (and misses)



P.S. my car has about 93,000 miles and has no mods done.

i need help, i dont want to pay hundreds of dollars just to get it looked at by a mazda dealer and tell me all i need to do it get a new motor (the quick way of examining it), also if you have any or know of any sites that may help with this feel free to post.

check the plugs.. make sure your getting enough fuel pressure... change your fuel filter.. to start the troubleshooting process

did you drain the fuel tank and put new gas in? 8+ year old gas could be a problem

yes, along with the oil, trany, and spark plugs

I would also replace the fuel filter and have the injectors cleaned. That kind of sitting will plug up just about anything. Could easily be something came loose in the lines and flowed to the injectors where it plugged one of them up.

i did do the fuel filter but not the injectors...

did you pull the plugs to see what they look like? Could be an indication of which rotor has the problem. Also you can pull each plug wire individually and stick an extra plug in to make sure all plugs are firing. Just have someone bump the car over while you ground the plug against the frame somewhere you might tell the person to floor the gas pedal to keep the injectors from firing so you dont flood it while you test this out.
