I had posted earlier an idle problem I've been having, but I have a new problem I think that may be related or not. The two pulleys under the alternator seem to wobble in a really weird way when my car stumbles under idle, and it does it sometimes when it idles fine. There is a wheel that the pulleys are connected to that wobbles as well, it's up against the front of the engine, and a little hard to see. It reminds me of where the crank pulley would be on a piston engine. I called KD Rotary and they said that if there is any oil leaking than I'm screwed, and that I should try to tighten all the bolts that I can. Well there is not a single drop of oil leaking, and all the bolts are as tight as they are gonna get. There is also no slack in the belt at all. But they started wobbling as soon as I had this idle problem. All the other pulleys spin fine, it's just that weird wheel in the back that has me worried, which I think is connected to the eccentric shaft (excuse my ignorance if I'm wrong) which has me worried even more. I installed new plugs which didn't correct the problem, and I'm going to try wires and a new coil. I would remove and inspect the pully.

Do you think you overtightend it and broke a bolt?

If the main pulley is loose that isnt good. It could idle wierd because the crank sensor is getting wierd readings from the trigger wheel that it bolted to the main pulley wobbling around.

has the motor recently had any work done to it? or did you change the pulley to a new one. If you put the engine together, and do not do it correctly that could be the problem. To keep it simple,, behind that pulley is the front engine cover, behind that is a bearing, if engine assembly is done wrong, that bearing can fall out of place, causing major pulley wobble !!!

turbovr6 is right! You will have to take the motor back out and replace the bearing, because most likely it got pinched and ate up. Mine did the same thing the first rebuild, amazing how much little **** gets messed up. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

I dunno much about the layout on the front of the fd motor, but it sounds like the crank trigger wheel is loose. Look into how it attaches to the pulley, perhaps the pulley and hub are not wobbling at all and are perfectly fine, and jsut the trigger wheel has come loose.



if it did come loose it will make your car run like ****, as it's the reference for the crank orientation for the ECU.

Well I know the bolts are all tight, and none of them are broke. The engine is a remanufactured one from Mazda, and it has 25,000 on the clock. Bone stock. No pulley work was ever done to it, and it was never disassembled. It started this wobble out of nowhere. One of the things that confuses me is that it doesn't do it constantly, which I would think that it would?? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif I'm gonna take those pulleys off later on in the week and try to tighten the trigger wheel. It seems like that wheel is the problem, the pulleys wobble much less than the wheel.
