will a 275/40r17 fit in the rear of a fd3s that has been lowered 1" all around or will the tire rub? my back wheel is 17x9 with a 35mm offset also.. just dont wanna buy a tire if shes gonna rub like a madman!

Your wheel will extend out about 28mm. It might be ok? You might just have to roll the fenders.

Far as your tires, I wouldn't go any higher than 275s on 9 inch rims.

i barely went by without rubbing with 285/40/17

i run with 275's in back on 9.5, but the offset is +42mm. your 35mm isn't ideal and it will be very close to the fender. if you get weight transfer to the back, you might hit.

darnit, i may have to rethink my wheel and tire combos huh?

2MCHPWR 09-10-2006 09:40 AM

do some more research to see if anyone uses that exact offset with the 275's just to make sure. maybe you can get away with running 255's in the rear instead? 255-40-17

on the track or the street? if you wanna go extreme, a set of MT ET Streets (no the radial version) will cure it for you. also check your diff bushings. i have a diff brace but never installed it.

teamrj83 09-10-2006 10:27 PM

ahh more for the strip is what im looking for. next spring when I do go to the strip I may have 350-400hp at the wheels but I also know it means jack if i cant traction up! i would like a lil more grab on the street too however. Im thinking adjustable shocks and struts and some tein H series lowering sport coils, and get new poly suspension brushings. but i donno if it will actually help or not but if not it will still look better :-)

You could fit 275s... but I say 265s instead of 255 (which I have on my 17s).

Also do some research on tire compounds. That would make quite a difference on how your car handles and such. Tire sizing is just one way but compound of the tires will make the night and day difference.
