So I was driving in my third gen on the freeway after just getting a brand new ACT s/s and HD pressure plate. Well...I decided to get off the freeway because I thought it was acting funny...I went in the direction of my friends perf shop and by the time I got there the car sounded like a diesel and **** was rattling. But the funny thing was the idle was perfect. No problems with idling. Over the last couple days I've had him do a couple things for me. We saw the crank pulley moving back and forth so we checked that.

Checked the transmission (not that)

All the pulleys (not that)

Turbos are fine a little shaft play but that's it (still boosting fine).

All the exhaust was fine.

So they left just the motor with a flywheel and rigged up the starter. It still made the noise and still idled fine. They said the knocking was coming from the center of the motor, and was shaking like hell.

Anyone know the verdict??

your stationary gear bearings might be bad. You need to STOP running the car immediately if this is the case. Drain the oil and see if you have any gold metal shavings. If you DO, ...you'll need an engine rebuild. How do I know? EXACT SAME THING happened to my last engine https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

hmmm.... maybe the same thing happened to mine cuz i remember my car sounding like that right before it died.

anyways.... one of my spark plug wires fell one time and made my car idle steady at 700rpm, but the car was shaking and sounded really really loud like a harley

And what if there is no shavings?

Arright maybe you can shed some light on a problem I've had from the beginning, and haven't been able to get a straight answer about. Sometimes at idle, almost always when it's cold my rpms stumble around 5-700. When this happens my car kinda shakes slightely almost as if it's trying to stall. Also when this happens the lower most pulleys wobble a tiny bit, but they are crazy tight, and there is complete tension in the belts. I have no lights on, no fluid leaks, no smells, and absolutely no weird engine noises. Does this sound familiar to you? When it warms up and I let it idle 99% of the time the rpms are fine, and it doesn't stumble. This may not be related at all, I just thought that maybe it sounded like it could be and I want to know if you have any idea what I am talking about. Thanks!

here's how to fix that problem. it has worked for many others in the past... first you go to the bank and get a loan right. then you buy a new engine. this simple 2 step process has never failed and trust me on this one...

I can't listen to that!! You're killing me!! Well, we'll just have to wait and see... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png
