OK, it's got a full exhaust (over 3", minus the midpipe, which is 2.75 ID.), apexi intakes, and a Koyo radiator.

If anything I would think it would run lean... But it's fouled out a set of platinum NGK's in like 10 miles! Running on one rotor now.... and I'm stumped. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

Does the ECU have any kind of a limp mode were it runs rich? I haven't installed my boost guage yet, but I thought it was hitting fuel cut (the 2 times it did it), but it also felt like limp mode in the series 5's. Before I blow another $30 on a set of plugs, I would like to figure this out https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png

The fuel cut is either overboost or knock sensor. If you're fouling plugs and it's always limping home, you should start a full diagnostic. GET A BOOST GAUGE.

yeah check it for codes, and then look at the map sensor vacuum line

I've got an RE boost guage/pettit column pod... it just got here today, but since I'm a friggin moron, I looked myself out of our gaurage.... So I've got to wait till my step-dad gets home with another key https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

Also, I swear, I was just searching on limp mode/ECU codes, and I was reading alot about the map sensor, and replacing the vacume line... then I was like, "wait... map sensor??? Were's that? It's got a vacume line????" "****..."

And of course, now thinking about it, I never hooked it up (other than plugging it in...) And I feel like a ****** idiot https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

wanta be boosted 12-17-2004 08:35 PM

Well, since it was in the wreck, the nipple was broken off of the bottom of the boost sensor, so neither of us noticed it....

Anyways, got it hooked back up, and once I get a new set of plugs tommorow, I'll see if that is the problem.

wanta be boosted 12-18-2004 08:01 AM

Well hooking up that line, and a new set of plugs got the engine running good https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

But now worse than before I've got smoke pooring from the passengers side of the enigne, it's oil burning. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

And I truely did hit fuel cut this time https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png It came about when the secondary turbo kicked in.... felt a really hard pull... the just like it died.... Time for a Redom huh???

FikseRxSeven 12-18-2004 12:16 PM

you dont have to keep replacing yoru plugs they might still be good... spray it with brake cleaner and brush it with a silver steel brush(none of that bronze stuff) rinse it off and spray it with brake cleaner again and light it up with a butane lighter

wanta be boosted 12-18-2004 02:04 PM

It hit them with an abrasive pad, then got them with the butane tourch, and they didn't work at all....

Anyways, it seems that I only get the smoke after the secondary boosts a little. (I don't think it's doing much, because once it get some boost, the engine pretty much falls on it face....)

If it just idles, or is driven lightly, it has no smoke.

wanta be boosted 12-18-2004 04:08 PM

OK, in 1st gear, it will hit .8 bar of boost (reading on my mechanical RE gauge.) Then it cuts out/falls on it's face... whatever.

In 2nd/3rd it will hit about 1.2 bar of boost, then cut out.

So this is fuel cut, and I need an upgraded ECU correct?

Fe3Boost 12-20-2004 07:23 AM

keep it up and you will need a new motor. get that midpipe off there and get a dam HF cat. You need a little back pressure especially when it is cold. do not run over 12psi on the stock ecu.
