I am thinking about buying an FD. I am skeptical though because of of rotory engine lifespans, and the fact they are are short. I have heard that it is mostly the owners fault. Anything that you can give me (links or whatever) would be nice. (sites about how the rotory works would be nice too)

I dont mind doing the stuff myself, but im sure id have to buy some kind of factory service manual, right? I know there are some recalls that i would need to find out if they were complied with also. I have no idea how a rotory works so thats a big disadvantage right there.

lastly, you guys with huge turbos and big power, how long does your motors last? If a stock motor supposedly last 70k or so, than tuned motors must last half that? Correct me if i am wrong, i am not ignorant just trying to get info.

I saw an sr20det powered FD about a month ago on some nissan forums and it ran like mid 11's first time out, but i think the setup was good for 10's. Thats always a possiblity to hehe. Thanks for taking the time though!

Wow where to start.

Ok here is a good place to get some general info about the car and the problems that might arise on them. http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/

Download a workshop manual here.. http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/

Learn how a rotary works here...http://www.howstuffworks.com/rotary-engine.htm

A highly boosted engine generally dosent live 70k miles most of that due to tunning mistakes. Not inherit issues with rotary engines. Well in a manner of speaking that is.

Cars that go fast break, plain as that. Tune it well and it will should live long. Lean it out and detonate it and you can kiss the seals goodbye. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

Lastly most 3rd gens on the road today would have had all TSB's done already. If it didnt you could get them done by any Mazda dealership free of charge.

Here is a excellent site that I belive lists the technical service bulletins in it somewhere. http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/

Enjoy and good luck with the buy.
