Hi all, I just wondered if any of you would be able to help me to find out what type FD I have. The whole time I have had the car I have been thinking that it is an RBS, but I have never known for sure.

So if any of you read japanese and are able to tell me what I have for sure, then that would be very much appreciated.

Clint.

maybe someone can run your vin numbers?

KingFD 01-05-2004 07:11 AM

On the second line of hand written characters where it says RX-7 theres also an R on the same line but I don't know what the characters before and after the R mean.

The 2001 R Bathurst R (release date August 2001) has the Bathurst R decal (sticker) on the car.

Go to http://www.mazda.com/publicity/public/200108/0830e.html for the details on this limited edition version.

Our car is the 2002 R Bathurst (release date December 2001) which doesn't have the Bathurst R decal on the car.

Go to http://www.mazda.com/publicity/public/200112/1210e.html for details on this special edition of our car.

The Bathurst R (our car) is on the Mazda Japan site with the Spirit Rs. It would pay to look at the pics on the mazda site as they are clearer and you will be able to see that the car doesn't have the decals.

Go to the Bathurst Type R website for details:

http://www.rx-7.mazda.co.jp/equip4.html

(For those that can't understand Japanese, use the online application bablefish to help you decipher the text).

JT-Imports 01-06-2004 03:53 AM

The sticker came on that car though trust me. I just dont think all of them did. Maybe an option or something (dumb if so)

When Mazda sold the Spirit R and Bathurst I saw the cars just about every 4-8 days hehe both of them..... Not to mention on the road.

I have to order some Mazda and shite tomorrow so I will just ask them about it. It may just be an option or something.

I have the catalog around here somewhere, but Im too ummmmm tired to look ya thats its hehe

I will ask tomorrow though along with some other questions (for others that are reading this)

JT-Imports 01-06-2004 04:10 AM

Ok that was easy, it was next to the parts catalog HAHA

There are all the Bathursts here in my little booklet hehe from 1996-2002 they all had the sticker (NOW be calm, I mean that doesnt mean shite since maybe there are some catches to it, I really dont think so though) Im reading more now..

P.S the majority of the sticker is RED on these cars, they dont show a RED FD hints, maybe why we cant see it on the RED FD, still reading...

Shite then they show the RED FD in the back more info, no sticker WTF! hehe

ah I will ask tomorrow.

KingFD 01-06-2004 04:36 AM

For the earlier version of the Bathurst, yes, they had the R decals on the car (like the August 2001 version R Bathurst R).

But for our version which was released in December 2001, the Type R Bathurst, it didn't have the R decals. The stickers don't appear on the December 2001 version.

Check out the Japanese mazda Type R Bathurst website for pictures of the Type R Bathurst in white and blue - you will see that this specific version (the version that we have) did not have the R decals.

http://www.rx-7.mazda.co.jp/limited/bathurst/style.html

Thanks for all your help and enquiries but don't go to too much trouble to find out about the "R" decals. You've helped us confirm the best news we've heard since we got our car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

JT-Imports 01-06-2004 05:19 AM

Yeah no problem man. I believe ya actually I just want to confirm for my own record hehe

Yeah I hang at Mazda quite a bit, they even send me NEW YEARS cards and shite haha

particleeffect 01-08-2004 06:20 PM

my god. an 02 FD with 4k mi. hrm, NZ... might be an ok place to move to.

4RotorRocket 01-08-2004 08:30 PM

very nice

Mazdabation 01-08-2004 11:12 PM

Just out of curriousity.....does the V.I.N not say anything about the model type in it? This way sticker or not, you can be sure.

JT-Imports 01-08-2004 11:15 PM

VIN----I dont think so. I could be wrong though.. Just the FD3S thats it

KingFD 01-09-2004 05:53 PM

Im not sure either - same as what JT said.

Indian 02-06-2004 09:13 PM

How many oil coolers does your car have? Does it have cruise control?

KingFD 02-07-2004 05:50 AM

Has two oil coolers. Does not have cruise control. Come to think of it I have never seen a FD in New Zealand that has cruise control.

Indian 02-07-2004 07:29 AM

Good, that the first rule to know if you have a type R series. The rest of FD's have single oil coolers and cruise control on them. Now check the shocks and tell us what you have.

JT-Imports 02-07-2004 09:36 PM

Indian--- His FD is J-spec we didnt have single oil coolers on any model, that was a US thing. I think in 1992 we had them for a brief moment here, but then they changed up when they saw the problems.

KingFD 02-08-2004 04:39 AM

I have no questions as to what it is, my question has already been answered by JT some time ago. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
