Well. I bought Gordon's car. He was an admin on here. His car was sitting in WV for about 3-5 years ? So i sold my Nissan and drove to WV and towed it home. I had no idea what i was getting into. I found a dead mouse and snake skin in the trunk ???? Random nests. KDRotary had worked on the car a few times and wow. I'm amazed the car never burned down. Anyway slowly i cleaned, fixed, took apart, reinstalled pretty much everything ? Test drove it. Stock turbos are blown... Took those off. Put an N/A header on and tried to pass emissions. That took about five tries but i passed with a new double cat spl midpipe. Once that was out of the way i installed an hks vosko spec'ized fully divided turbo kit with a GT bb turbo. Fmic some custom piping. Blocked off all emissions stuff. Kahren tuned it, wg spring is only 8psi for some reason. Drag raced it ran 13.0 @ 108 with 2.0 60ft. I need to eliminate the pulsation damper, put a real diff in it, get some braces for the diff/trans. Then i would like to drif the car a little and see what happens. I have not begun to skim all of the work i have done so far.... So that is what i have been up to for the previous YEAR!....

welcome back to the world of moneypits!

Is that one of Gordon Monsen's cars?

Baldy 12-07-2010 08:04 AM

Burnout video needed.

Yes!

vosko 12-07-2010 09:15 AM

Gordon Chase not Monsen. The car that used to be on the top banner ? No burnouts until the torsen is out. It has 4.33 gears in there and i don't want it all imploding... Im going to turn up the boost and retune and it should run 11s then on street tires.

phinsup 12-07-2010 09:20 AM

No **** huh. Well welcome back. I talked to Gordon not too long ago, glad he found a good home for his car lol

vosko 12-07-2010 12:31 PM

yeah anyone else who bought it probably would have parted the car out... i am resurrecting it!

thatpoorguy 12-07-2010 06:33 PM

Nice work!

vosko 12-08-2010 05:52 PM

next time the uim is off i'm going to clean or change it

Signal 2 12-09-2010 07:41 AM

Welcome back. Looks like it's going to be fun. Easy to pick out all the shiny bits from your work since getting the car.

It's probably as cold in NJ as it is here in the midwest, so you likely have some time before the real driving season starts again. Keep us posted.

I'm also interested in your experience with the FPD delete. I was tempted to do it a while back but chickened out and bought a new one. Maybe next time I'm in there.

vosko 12-10-2010 08:46 AM

J9 was sending me the pieces to delete the FPR but they haven't showed up yet. i happened to have some top feed primary and secondary rails sitting around. so i might just upgrade to those injector dynamics injectors

thatpoorguy 12-10-2010 11:32 AM

I have a spare uim, lim, tb, and injector rails if you need them

vosko 12-10-2010 09:17 PM

i am good on those parts but thanks

gordonmonsen 12-27-2010 08:01 PM

Hey, Vosko. Good looking project.

Gordon

GreyGT-C 12-27-2010 08:58 PM

holy ****! Gordon, how ya been?

93RX7R1 12-28-2010 09:09 AM

Looks like it will be a fun project :-) Glad to hear that the car is being resurrected and not parted out!

gordonmonsen 12-29-2010 03:49 PM

GreyGTC... Having fun working on the car. Taking it out to 7stock this year. Lot of new little things done to the car.

The Carlsi event was great.

Car looks awesome!

Gordon

vosko 12-31-2010 08:44 AM

thanks gordon et al. it's not my old car..... but i'm trying to take it slow and not break the bank this time

vosko 01-15-2011 04:09 PM

fixed some more stuff. passenger side axle seal on the diff was leaking. new rear pads pmu d1 spec. Also installed remflex high temp exhaust gaskets on the midpipe

Signal 2 01-19-2011 04:53 AM

Had a differential side seal failure on mine too. Procrastinated for a while because I thought it was going to be alot harder job than it was. Really pretty easy.

Those Remflex gaskets....I've never used or even seen them up close. Better than the OEM?

vosko 01-20-2011 04:56 PM

they are awesome so far, no more leaks at the midpipe. i actually wanted to get copper gaskets but i couldn't find any. i wanted a t4 divided inlet copper gasket and those 2bolt 3inch exhaust gaskets. i'd have to make them myself or get a company to produce them. either way it was too much work

on the diff leak. the seal didn't even seem bad but i changed it anyway. the axle might not have been seated all the way but i figured while i was in there might as well change it for piece of mind

i want to address all the rear end issues but i added it up, real diff plus diff bushings, diff brace, trans brace, etc is alot of money and work right now

next on my to do list is poly motor mounts, both of my stock mounts are ripped and broken

vosko 06-16-2011 05:47 PM

so i broke an engine, rebuilt another engine and put it in

http://youtu.be/XZQV4UF9Lps

and now my car runs again

that is the very abbreviated version

jwteknix 06-17-2011 08:59 AM

makes u feel all warm inside

vosko 06-17-2011 09:26 PM

more idling!

http://youtu.be/0ROr4aoS6fA

hopefully i can drive it around next week...

banzaitoyota 06-19-2011 11:59 AM

Who built the new block?

Signal 2 06-19-2011 09:24 PM

Pretty damn satisfying feeling. Was that initial start-up? I ask because I remember mine smoked enough to hide a battle-ship from all the assembly lube and anti-seize. Fortunately I used old plugs and saved the new ones for afterward.

vosko 06-19-2011 10:16 PM

jwteknix and i built the new engine. one of the cool things i got was the goopy bolts, i plan to drift and clutch kick this car. it will see alot of twisting loads. i still have the one i pulled out to also rebuild as a street ported backup engine just in case...

that was the second then third startups. first startup i had to use two cycle to get it to fire up, as not all the seals were loose yet. my garage looked like it was on fire after the first startup. took about 30 minutes to clear out all the smoke. i am surprised nobody called the police etc

i'm waiting for my new harness to show up, hopefully by Tuesday. the car is running on the original crispy harness right now, just to make sure it actually ran and fix any other issues that came up

i'll post some more videos when the car is off jackstands

vosko 06-27-2011 12:05 PM

so it runs good now! tuned it a little. broke it in. then drifted it sat/sunday at englishtown. real tuning tomorrow night ? then dyno eventually. can't wait to run 17psi again

vosko 06-27-2011 02:01 PM

i bought a cusco RS and it came with delrin diff bushings

vosko 07-17-2011 03:34 PM

i'm not sure yet... we are still working on that with my car

Rx7aholic 08-14-2011 08:32 PM
