Will an FD run worth a **** with the thermoswitch, that tells the ECU the water temp, being broke? Because I broke mine yesterday trying to get the damn connector off and the whole switch broke in half....so I have no idea what my water temps are outside of the stock coolant gauge. I tried to drive it around my neighberhood block and it ran like complete ****.....could it be the switch putting my car is some sort of limp more, or do I have some problems with my fuel and spark?

I have a brand new motor, new single turbo, Power FC, 756/1680 injectors, A1000 FP, FMIC, DP, MP, Cat Back, HKS Twin Power, etc....I just wanted to make my car move on it's own power and it ran for ****. Just curious...I ordered a new thermoswitch which should be here Friday, but if you know, let me know.

Thanks,

Scott

when that sensor is bad the stock ecu just assumes its 80c and turns on the check engine light. i dunno what the pfc does. the older mazda ecus dont have a "saftey" they just see the open and think its -32degrees outside and flood the engine

That seems about right...it was running way way way too rich....like 34% Injector Duty Cycle at 2600rpm and I have 756/1680 injectors....so any time I would even touch the gas pedal it would stumble and ****. And my readings were at --- on the Power FC for my water temps, but it would blink on and off anywhere from -17'C all the way up to 130'C with the sensor broke and hanging there. I order a new one from Malloy so hopefully Friday I will have it all fixed up and running again.

From the little I have played with the Power FC, if you go to the sensor check screen, the coolant reading should have a black highlighted backround with the broken wire you describe. This is APEX'i's way of telling you the Power FC is not getting a signal from that sensor. If anything else is highlighted on that screen you might want to check that sensor as well.

there are 2. one is for the fans, other for sensor. make sure fans kick on at 108c or boom!

108? that's way too high.

Low fans kick on at 95, medium at 100, and high at 105 as per the datalogit.

I have my fans set to kick on at 83'C...but the one that is broke tells the ECU the temp...so if the ECU does not know the temps, then it can not tell the fan relays to kick on. I just turned my AC on and left the fans running while I was messing around with it.
