Hey I was just wondering what kind of water temperatures everyone regularly runs with. Ive searched and looked around on the internet, and cant seem to find anything on it. When Im cruising around town, Im running usually in the low 90s in celsius, and that seems high. If I get spirited with the car, it runs the same temps until I start driving normal again, then it spikes to the upper 90s, ie 98,99 sometimes even 100. Just wanted to make sure Im not killing the car, especially since the weather is warming up. Thanks!

Ive seen my temps up to 220 in traffic on a 100 degree day just putting around, intake temps around 120 but i have short rams |
your stock fans are supposed to come on at 88 deg celcius if im correct, and continue running until the temp is down to 85-86, you might have a fan or a thermostat problem. be careful, cuz heat is the rotary's worst enemy.
where are you getting this reading from? where is your sensor ? |
Im running an aem ems, got it off there. Ive had my car running at 12 pounds for a year now havent had any problems, my car has 93,000 miles too! whats are the degrees in farenheit? thats with a fluidine to!

U know u dont have to talk in celcius to sound smart, we are in america! You know a lot of people do use imported gauges that read in celcius. I actually prefer the reading in celcius. This time of year crusing temps in my car show around 88-90c. In the summer it goes up to 95-104c. |
I just datalogged some runs...
23C (73F) outside 99C at 7340rpms in 4th gear...started the pull @ 4500rpms in 2nd and 95C took 15.1s https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png |

actually, the stock fd fans come on high at 105 or 110, so your temp range is normal and fine.
They could be a little cooler but its ok |
Mine usually stays at 84-85C and only jumps to 86C if given ****.
Stock set up. |
Thanks a lot guys, youve been really helpful. Lately Ive been running 82-89, so thats been good. But last night, I dont know exactly what happened, but Im pretty sure I killed my car. Dont wanna hi-jack my own thread so Im making a new one.

Damn your guys cars run really cool. Mine will cycle from 92-99C. Only when I am on it hard do I see 102ish and it comes down quick. The Fluidyne rad helps a lot.
The only time I see temps around 86-88 is when I am cruising on the freeway with outside temp at about 40F or below. You do realize that 84C is about 183.2 and that means your t-stat just opened up a few degrees before. 110C is about 230F which is just about as hot as you want to ever run, plus I would not shut the car down at that temp. But it is just fine to see those temp. |
usually see 80-83 around town and in traffic it will get to 84-85.. highway cruising around 83-84.
Track day.. usually get about 88-90C never seen anything higher.. and thats beating the ever living **** out of the car. |
PLease post your cooling setup for that cool of temps.
Also what is the outside temp. like at the track? 75 degrees or 95? |
On the stock thermoswitch, medium speed fan kicks on at 221 F. High speed at 226 F.
Yesterday I was getting 210 to 215 F. after boost but it quickly recovered to about 190 - 195 F. This is on Stock ECU, OEM t-stat, DP, HF Cat with Fluidyne radiator 40/60 Coolant to distilled water ratio, Miata Thermoswiitch, stock R1 dual oil coolers and Synthetic oil. Ambient temp was 85 to 90 F. w/low humidity and my sensor is mounted in the TB coolant line. And if you want Celcius, do the conversion or move to France. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683683.gif |

Fluidyne Radiator, PFC set to 85C for fullspeed fans. 98% distilled water mixed with Redline Water Wetter and 2% Ethylene Glycol. And the track temp that day was about 79F. But even on 91F days around here i only see 81-83C for water temp and an occasional reach to 85C when sitting in traffic. Once I start moving the temps drop back down to 83-84C. |
Thank you.
