I was just wondering what times he was running with his t-78??? Im sure we have similar mods except for my fuel system and i have a wet shot of nos...... UM boost i would imagine would be the same i think he runs 15 pounds right? Also im an auto but there wont be much of a turbo lag with a 4200 stall converter, Also i wont loose boost between shifts like a manual so i will always be in full boost. So any feed back from the man himself i would epriciate it..........Thanks.........

Fd3BOOST 01-01-2003 01:00 PM

Why in the world would you want to run only 15psi on a t78?

Your never gonna make any serious power that way?

I just don't get that. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

Rob x-7 01-01-2003 01:04 PM

He hasnt really had a chance to run it all out, the animal keeps breaking things.

1Revvin7 01-01-2003 01:05 PM

yeah at 15psi, you should have gotta a smaller turbo, like a T60 or T66. You know that T-78 is most efficient @ 30-33psi, right? I don't unerstand why ppl get such big ass turbos and run them at low boost.

image4you2see 01-01-2003 01:05 PM

Im just learning i will admit that..... What should i run 20 pounds????? I want to make 450 whp without the nos.....The problem is i have time to think since i havnt got all my parts in yet.......This is my first rx7 plus turbo car. I already have a low 11sec car on spray its a 85 monte ss, i could probably get it faster but quit playing with it back in 97. Im just trying to soak things up like a sponge so i should now what to do is all...............So any more info let me know what else i should do please..........

Rob x-7 01-01-2003 01:06 PM

450 hp with no nitrous shouldnt be a problem if you can find someone to tune it for you and you have the dollars for alot of dyno time.

image4you2see 01-01-2003 01:08 PM

But i would like to make 450 without the nos is it possible with the t-78?

bigtime 01-01-2003 01:11 PM

spray is gay...just say no

and yes 450 hp is easy without spray

vosko 01-01-2003 01:59 PM

my goal is 15psi and 450rwhp. i made 416rwhp @ 13psi.

with the car detuned and broken tranny and ppf and drag radials. i ran

12.0 @ 117.6 MPH with a 1.75 60 FT. that was @ 15psi but the car is detuned and running so rich it only has about 350rwhp @ 15psi right now. i might be getting a sequential dogmission. after the car is running again i will be dynoing at 10psi,15psi,20psi,25psi . i also plan to switch to 1680cc primary injectors. that will be more than enough fuel for 30psi https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

well, I'm in the wheaton/lisle area. I don't have any turbo experience but I did just build a new motor for my FC... have most tools needed for working on rotary vehicles... I'd love to find more rotorheads in the area.

Vosko you need a powerglide https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

image4you2see 01-01-2003 09:44 PM

I looked into doing a power glide in my car had evey thing ready to go and started measuring and there wasnt enough room with out a little sledge hammer work...............If some one else knows about this fitting let me know me and a chassi builder sized it up without any luck..........Thats what i was going to do right off the bat but started to do research on the mazda tranny and with the major rebuild kit, stall converter, cooling fins on the tranny pan and bigger cooler the rx7 automatic tranny will hold up to alot more horspower than every one thinks...........This tranny is used in alot of different cars from mazda nisan and subaru. o boot subaru has used this tranny in a couple different rally cars that had paddle shifts on the steering wheel.........So in reality there is no reason for a gm tranny or any other type besides the mazda one...........

vosko 01-01-2003 09:48 PM

i agree if you build up the tranny it should be able to handle the power but its not cheap :(

image4you2see 01-01-2003 09:57 PM

Actually I built my tranny here locally parts included with the 4200 stall for half of what level ten charges.........

loi 01-01-2003 09:58 PM

did someone said power slice? wow, i hope this is not a street car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub... you need a super high coverter on the fd to run the glid.

vosko 01-01-2003 10:07 PM

i mean you still gotta spend the $$$$ nobody likes to spend money you know that https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

image4you2see 01-01-2003 10:19 PM

For sure, i know i didnt want to but i figured i would do it while the car was apart.........I just wish the haltech would run the automatic tranny like i was told it would.........Im kinda thinking of getting rid of it to get the aem so it will run it but then i wont have any preset maps to work off of........I tried to get rid of the electronics in the factory automatic like they do with the gm 700r4 but there was no way of doing it.........The tranny guy looked at the mapping of the tranny and he said under his knowledge he couldnt do it like the 700r4 but i wish some one new how to it would make it easier on me so i dont have to piggy back the haltech just for the tranny.............

vosko 01-01-2003 10:32 PM

hmmmmm........ are you sure the AEM will do it.....

wptrx7 01-01-2003 10:56 PM

someone mentioned level 10? they only work on auto trans. i called and asked before ito rebuilt my tranny (by the way after i did that, it felt like the best mod ever).

luigi

image4you2see 01-01-2003 11:13 PM
