The entire fan assembly (blades and motors) is probably the best thing to do. The motors from that year pull 18 amps vs. the stock 25 amps (93-95). But Mazda also did say that the 5/7 pull more air vs the 4/5.

Remember how everybody and their mom used to say, "Get 2 4-blade fans. They pull more air."? Guess Mazda proved them wrong.

Good pics! I've been thinking about ordering the blades for a while.

So you're saying the newer Fan motors are a better replacement? I wonder if the connectors are the same, probably are.

Anyone know why one of my fan motors is running hot while the other one isn't?

I think the connectors are the same.

It sounds like either the fan is dying, or having a tough time pushing that blade around (doubtful). Neither of my fan motors run hot like you describe. I'd try swapping them out and see if the problem goes away. I'd imagine you can just put the old blades on and see if that fixes it first. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

One thing I forgot to mention though, I was running a stock size battery at an autox back in March that jammed up one of the fans and completely blocked it from moving for probably 20 minutes. So that probably is teh cause of the motor running hot now.

One last question. If the newer fan motors use less amps to run the fans do they spin any slower, which is why they have more fan blades, perhaps to compensate?

As soon as I find one of those turbo windmill toys I'll put them up against the newer fans and the stock fans so you guys can see the actual difference.

Sounds logical, but I'm not sure. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

I can't beleive you had to remove the bumber and radiator for the fans!
