Have not posted in ages, having a problem. I have tried searching for solutions with no luck, wondering if anyone here could help me with this please. My fd was running great yesterday, 12 pounds and strong, now it is building about 2 or 3 pounds of boost, and it sounds like its leaking through the bov. Is it leaking somewhere else, where should i check. thanks in advance. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

check the plumbing that goes in and out of the cooler, before i front mounted mine one of the hoses split between the bellowed bits was very hard to pick up visually it wasnt till i removed it.
If you have a trust type r bov the oring can split and come off, has also happened to me. |
The stock BOVs are pretty good and dont leak out of nowhere.
you have a vaccume leak elsewear. Check for obvious stuff first. |
A couple years ago, the hose from the intake to the top of the turbo, It was straight and about 6" long, split on the backside up against the engine where it couldn't be seen. Once this was fixed, I got all the boost as advertised. After putting it away for the winter, I developed a differant boost ussue that I haven't solved yet.
The Mazda dealer checked it out for 2 hrs ( Forntunatley didn't charge ) Said everthing was Ok. Car runs great except low boost. When you find the issue, it would be great to post a couple pics of the part location, with the part installed and off. I know that most owner's are mechanically inclined, but some of us need pictures. Anyone that could post pics of what seems to be the most common cause, the Y-Pipe, would be a hero. Thanks. |
yeah +1 on pictures
and thanks for the help i will check the lines to the cooler and all the obvious stuff. |
the coupler i am talking about is where the y pipe attaches to the intercooler pipe.

i found a leak/split in the rubber coupling pictured in post #8 on my wife's fd this last summer. it was such that you had to take off the coupler and look carefully at it.
