is it hard to put a turbo 2 diff on an FD and is it alot stronger for hard drag racing launches?

also is it worth all the time and fabrication? or should i just use the money to get a Kaaz?

thanks

vosko 02-28-2003 12:08 PM

if you can afford the kaaz. get the kaaz it is stronger. if you can't afford it get the TII 87-88 clutch type LSD unit

teknics 02-28-2003 12:14 PM

how hard is it to mount the TII unit on an FD?

not very hard, a guy once told me that once you do it once, you're a pro..... i guess i'm a pro now.

its not very hard at all, get a TII shop manual and some gloves. it takes like an hour or so to switch the clutch diffs

but like vosko said, the kazz is stronger, this is a mod for cheap asses

vosko 02-28-2003 12:35 PM

ito has done it already, i think we are getting to good at switching diffs ! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png

Can someone do a write up on it? do you just pull the "guts" out of the pumpkin and swap them over?

zooq 02-28-2003 07:28 PM

is mileage important when getting a used clutch type diff?

yes the clutches wear. if you have it out of the car its very easy to rebuild, and mazda sells oversize shims so you can set it tighter

so if i find a TII diff with about 100K miles will i have to rebuild it?

i don't want to end up paying more than the Kaaz diff price

it depends on how it was used. if it went up and down the freeway it will be like new, if it was auto-x'ed then its gonna be toast. the parts to rebuild it are about $150.
