Ah, that one. I think it's been a round awhile. Hasn't it?

Yes, its been around for quite a while. I like the 2jz with its capability and relaibility but I would rather it stay in the supra. Now Rotary swaps. I like those.

I say its pretty much pointless unless your going for a dyno queen. You can't put down that much power to the ground in that car, and you completely ruin the handling of it FD. Other than that, it's cool.

fc3sboy1 08-04-2005 08:18 PM

to me that was a total waist of a good car, the story as i remember it was that they kept blowing engines in the 7, hmmmmmmm could have been poor tuning or driver error or even piss poor engine building. so they say lets drop a 2jz into it. question to me is why not a good quality 3 rotor instead of the yota motor and man they made that car look like **** indoing the 2jz motor.

The Supra 7 is old news. They couldn't fit the stock hood on, it had bump steer issues, they ended up shrugging and said it's only good as a show piece...

...now there are several guys that are pioneering a working, better 2JZ swap without many of these issues, however there is no denial that the 2JZ will mess with some of the balance/weight of the car, and that it will and can be very costly, which IMO doesn't make it worth it.

Blah.

Why not go with a chevy V8, lighter and you can shut the hood. With turbo charging you can get even more power. Also it would be good for 100k miles... On the otherhand why not just build a 900hp 20b,,, it would still be an RX-7 not a frank'n'7.
