Who has subtle (non-canister) looking exhuasts that sound loud and mean? (I can only think of RB, RS-R and the M2, but not sure if they are loud)

TYSON 08-17-2003 09:46 PM

I will, if I can sell my HKS Carbon Ti for a decent amount. I'll get one made.

The HKS gets too much attention. Although at least everyone thinks it's the reason why my car is so loud. They just assume it's the only reason. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Joe Flo 08-17-2003 09:47 PM

subtle and loud...I dont get it? I would go with Greddy. It was subtle but had some sound to it.

rfreeman27 08-17-2003 10:27 PM

PFS is pretty good in both catagories

GarageBoy 08-17-2003 10:45 PM

The RS*Rand Racing Beat have the look, but do they have the sound? Also, do the non-canisters flow much worse than true canisters?

Danno 08-17-2003 11:09 PM

Why do you want to go subtle with the canister. I love the way mine looks. You don't have to worry about the exhaust drawing attention. The FD it self draw ton of attention with it sleek looks.

TYSON 08-17-2003 11:18 PM

I don't like it when moronic kids come up and ask "DOes that car have NAWS?"

Happened today at an autocross of all places https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

rfreeman27 08-17-2003 11:24 PM

I told the last kid that i had a 750 shot. I shouldnt be such a jackass to 12year olds lol!

GarageBoy 08-17-2003 11:24 PM

Tyson's reason is the same as mine. Also, most people confuse them with typical rice cans

BigTurbo74 08-18-2003 01:13 AM

how loud do you want? straight pipes?

jspecracer7 08-18-2003 02:31 AM

Border Burnout 90mm exhaust. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Danno 08-18-2003 01:25 PM

Tyson that was a good one. I hate when they do that too. My opiion of NOS is that it is used to cheat. It a mod that is easy to add a ton of power. But people should mod the things where they have the powrer all the time not when they push a button.

I know you pusha button to turn a boost controler on but HOS is just bull !!

WishIhadaRX7 08-18-2003 01:46 PM

Why do all you guys hate on nitrous? Nitrous is an awesome mod for any car, I mean who would turn down easy extra power on tap whenever you need it? The only real problem I see with nitrous is that if you don't know what you are doing it is very easy to make things go BOOM!

Striker 08-18-2003 01:50 PM

yeah, as long as nitrous is done right. its not all that bad. why do some pro stock cars use it?? and do as well and forced induction pro stock cars?

TYSON 08-18-2003 01:56 PM

Believe me, Pro Stock cars don't use nitrous.

You're thinking of Pro-Mod, and Pro-Street.

There's nothing wrong with nitrous on a race car. I'm a little tired of all the hype. My insurance company tried to refuse a claim last year because they said my car had nitrous. Mechanic at Mazda said my car had nitrous when he saw grey vacuum hoses. Now people walking by my car in a parking lot say it has nitrous. I'm just a little sick of it, and it's all because of F&F.

WishIhadaRX7 08-18-2003 02:01 PM

I agree F&F fucked up a lot of ****, and gave way to many wannabes the wrong ideas. But despite that, nitrous is a viable and proven way to make power cheaply and reliably when set up properly.

DaedelGT 08-18-2003 02:29 PM

A RB single tip with a mid pipe is loud as the F after 4500 RPMs (sequential) and is just about as subtle as they get. I prefer the dual tip but it's a bit quieter.

GarageBoy 08-18-2003 08:59 PM

Thanks! Any opinions on RS*R?

GarageBoy 08-19-2003 07:30 PM

Anyone?

GarageBoy 08-19-2003 10:24 PM

No.... www.rs-r.com

GarageBoy 08-20-2003 08:05 PM

Searched, no luck on RS*R...

vspecpgt 08-20-2003 08:34 PM

the RE dolphin is really nice looking... plus with the way the tip points down it is very discreet looking.... course it is big coin...

GarageBoy 08-20-2003 10:24 PM

Any links to RE's?

GarageBoy 08-21-2003 08:08 PM

To The Top...

TYSON 08-21-2003 08:15 PM

Why does this have to be a priority? Do you need one today? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

GarageBoy 08-21-2003 09:00 PM

Sorry, I replied to the wrong post! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png

Best two "tame" Fd exhausts are the Racing beat and the PFS catbacks.

Both are really nice and fairly "subtle"

D.

rfreeman27 08-21-2003 09:33 PM

i can vouch for the PFS. It could look a little better, but it is high quality and sounds mean. I run full exhaust and at highway the car is quiet. However when you hit the loud pedal...it is just that...loud!

GarageBoy 08-21-2003 09:43 PM

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind (if i ever make my dream come true)

PhoenixDownVII 08-21-2003 10:55 PM

FWIW: RS-R is the only exhaust I have both seen and heard first hand on an NA honda that didn't sound farty. Given, not all of em are Cat-Back's and most are just tips...it still sounded pretty good.

RS-R is a big Japanese exhaust company, I don't see why it's only for the Ricer Honda's...I've seen RS-R advertised with Orido's Supra and I believe the other gents with the Rx7/Skyline. But, that only holds so much weight....

....www.rs-r.com advertises their exhausts to be quiet, and I believe they are/will be. They also look pretty "Modest" and high quality.

GarageBoy 08-21-2003 11:35 PM

Thanks again!

(The Apexi N1 single sounds nice on a FC but sounds farty on a FD IMHO https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR )

Was the FC NA?

Backpressure is very different (Obviously) with a Turbocharger involved.

Therefore, you can hear one exhaust but it could sound differently based on two things: The engine Size and type (NA or Turbo)....and if the exhaust is catback or just a tip (well duh, catback is better)...DP's might change things as well (Volume).

lovemyseven 08-22-2003 10:18 PM

why do you want obnoxious pipes? That is what guys with burned out 92 cavaliers and dodge shadows are for.........no offense to those with cavaliers and/or dodge shadows

GarageBoy 08-25-2003 06:42 PM

Phoenix, it was a TII.. Thanks guys! I like canister loud, but don't want to be mixed up with ricers, lovemyseven
