I found oil on the bottom of the turbos!! I think they're leaking. can this be fixed easily, like replacing some gasket or something; or is this a sign that my turbos are going to go out pretty soon. Should i take them out and check them. Thanks y'all.

Your turbos will blow a little oil... It's okay as long as it's not a lot.

You first need to be sure that the oil is coming from your turbos. It is possible that the oil is leaking from somewhere above the turbos, and leaking down onto them, making them look suspect. If they are leaking, then you can live with it until you have the money for a rebuild/new turbos/single. Check out Bryan's site www.bnrsupercars.com

Yeah Louis, I had him do a stock rebuild a month ago. Something happened and they are still blowing by oil, though. He is being an awesome guy about it, though. When I send the turbos back (as soon as I find a car to drive in the meantime) he is going to upgrade them for the trouble they caused me. So as long as they don't leak when they come back, I will be recommending him to everyone.

if its an external leak, check 2 things.

1. the oil level, if its too high oil comes out of very wierd places

2. the oil feed pipe has a banjo bolt that like to loosen up over time, usually it needs to be tightened, sometimes you need to change the crush washers

yeah i'm pretty sure it is coming from the turbos. are they going to give out though.

P'cola FD 10-10-2002 11:33 PM

Turbos usually last a long time after the intial leakage begins. Just keep an eye on the oil loss, and once it gets excessive, then you can worry about it. Just start saving now, so that when they do start to get worse, you'll already have the money to fix them.

blaze08 10-10-2002 11:58 PM

So there's no way in stopping that leak? Dammit i wanted to save my money for something else.

P'cola FD 10-11-2002 12:11 AM

Make absolutely sure that it is leaking from the turbo cartridge, and not the banjo bolt on the oil feed line. If it is definitely leaking from the turbo, then yes, you need to sart saving.
