Hi,

I am putting my engine back together and the manual says something about aligning the notch on the tab for the mixing plate. Are they refering to the injectors or can i just put the injectors straight down the hole? thanks for any advice.

you can put them right in the hole, just make sure the plugs are facing the right way. also a bit of grease or oil on the orings helps to seat them easier

Use clean thin coat of clean engine oil on the injector o-rings. This will prevent gas leaks and help them seat easier.

I wouldn't use grease if I were you...

Lubing the rings has nothing to do with preventing leaks, only to seat them easier. and a Light coating of grease will be fine. I've been changing injectors on every type of car including 7's for 10 years, never had one problem.

Side Feed Fuel Injectors such as those found on the 3rd gen RX7's can be very prone to leaks around the two injector o-rings. It is important that the rings not be dry as they will sometimes then leak. But you're right... without lubrication they're pretty hard to get in anyway so most people don't make the mistake.

I guess there is no reason grease wouldn't work. I've never tried it. It's just that I'd rather have a bit of engine oil accidently introduced into and sent through the fuel system than grease.
