Ok im going to change the spark plugs..what number should i use i.e. 9, 10? and i know to use ngk but what size gap should i use? thanks

FikseRxSeven 02-19-2004 09:54 AM

you cant gap plugs for rx7's

if you ahve a stock car go with 7's and 9's.

part number

bur7eqp for trailing

bur9eqp for leading

sidewinderx7 02-19-2004 09:54 AM

walk up to the guy behind the counter and say "i need 4 sparkplugs for a mazda rx7 [insert year], 2 leading 2 trailing." They will then tell you what sparkplugs they have for that model/year of car. Choose from those. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

rx7girltk 02-19-2004 09:56 AM

ok this is dumb but uh what ones are trailing and what ones are leading?

should i ask the guy if he has titanium valves also?

FikseRxSeven 02-19-2004 09:56 AM

oh yeah....... you might wanna go straigth to a mazda dealer..... cuz you might have a hard time finding them in your local car parts stores

FikseRxSeven 02-19-2004 09:57 AM

leading are the spark plugs towards the bottom of the car, and trailing are the ones on top.

rx7girltk 02-19-2004 09:59 AM

thanks

TYSON 02-19-2004 10:01 AM

They come all together in a box from the dealer, with a picture of where they go even. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

FikseRxSeven 02-19-2004 10:02 AM

oh yeah......... one more advice... replace them one at a time.... you dont wanna accidentally switch wires and blow the engine

rx7girltk 02-19-2004 10:03 AM

yeah dont need a blow engine the first weekend we get it

treceb 02-19-2004 02:34 PM

also the sparks plugs will have a "T" for trailing and "L" for leading. as has been said, "L" also stands for lower.

i can find them in stock at my local advanced auto. never in strauss and i dont recall if they had them in auto zone. never tried pep boys.

also i hear its better to do them from underneath the car. i changed them from above. if your doing so, id start with the front trailing as its the hardest to get to. at least it was for me.

hope that helps.

tampaFD 02-19-2004 04:33 PM

napa carries the platinum

helihansen 02-19-2004 08:11 PM

We definately carry them at advanced auto. I work there https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

RussellTT94 02-19-2004 10:11 PM

autozone does not carry them, they do not sell any NGK plugs

Dramon_Killer 02-19-2004 10:26 PM

O'reillys has them. 5 bucks a plug.

FrestyleFC3S 02-19-2004 10:50 PM

treceb 02-19-2004 11:24 PM

FikseRxSeven 02-19-2004 11:26 PM

yonner 02-20-2004 06:07 AM

FikseRxSeven 02-20-2004 06:21 AM

rx7girltk 02-20-2004 09:48 AM

jayshadow 02-20-2004 09:58 AM

Some people recommend all 9s for the amount of mods you have.
