Right now my car has a pretty new (Only 5k miles probably) STOCK Downpipe. Yes, that means pre-cat! Doh!

Previous owner didn't like the low-end powerloss of a DP. As a result, right now my car runs on a pretty new stock DP, a High-Flow Midpipe (where the main cat is right?), and an M2 Dual exhaust.

As for right now, my car runs perfect 10-8-10 boost patterns. However, despite any power loss down low (and the gain up top), I think I'd rather have an aftermarket DP (Eliminating stock Pre-Cat) on my vehicle...

I don't, however, want to overboost (Creep/Spike). Given my intakes are stock, fuel, ecu, etc. all stock....Wouldn't an aftermarket DP + my High-Flow Midpipe + M2 Dual mean TOO MUCH un-restrictive airflow and cause problems?

So, given that Idea, I have to now buy an aftermarket DP (Eliminating my pre-cat) but I have to source a STOCK midpipe (No elimination or high flow main cat!)...keeping my wonderful sounding M2 dual of course https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

What do you think I should do? Is there a store that sells the stock spec' MP with Main cat.

Any help is greatly appreciated! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Personally, I'd say give it a shot.. but a DP can be a lot of work to undo if it doesn't go right.

"Give it a shot" is what I leave for those who are willing to risk it and I'd like to think that, from other's mistakes, I can free myself of repeating the same one.

DP a lot of work to undoe? Meaning what? It's a bolt on...if boost go's nuts I can put back on my current set up which runs fine right?

find a good used stock main cat, and put a dp in it.

Yea I might buy used.

If I just put on a DP, and kept the high flow MP and Exhaust...do you think I should just hook up a boost controller and set it to 9/10 psi?

**** it, just leave it and drive the thing.

Meh..

The DP can be a lot of work if you have studs that have sheared off. Especially if they shear off in weird ways like mine did.

dont let steve scare you with the dp... the only common thing is the studs will come out with the nut. If you want i have a dp and stock main cat ill let go for 200$

Whatever, mine sheared off. I had to pull the studs and replace 'em. One of them sheared off in the threaded hole on the turbo. I was lucky enough to be able to thread a bolt in there over it.
