Here soon ill be selling a car that just sits around my yard and thatll give me about 3000$. My friend goes to dealer auctions and he is finding me an fd and it will be in between 80-100k miles. I'll have to put down a 1000$ down payment most likely. But then ill have the 2000-2200$ left. My question is: what should i do with that money? Should i do a rebuild? Or should i leave it how it is and do reliability mods, then start modifying it. Im only looking to hit 350-360 horsepower. Just looking for opinions, thanks https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

umm, i guess first wait till u have the car, see what it has, what it needs, and take it from there. just cause it has low miles doesnt mean it wont need a rebuild...

I agree with you. Your going to need more money than that after you get it.

I second that.... cause you'll never know what will happen. When my brother first got it.... after a year, he needed a new clutch then soon after that a rebuilt engine.... just wait til something happens and save up

$3k for an FD, from an auction? I doubt it.

I was thinking/hoping the same thing for other cars (Supra, Mr2, Skyline) but even when they do arrive at the auction they don't go for *only* $3k.

You could get a blown FD for $6k from a normal human being (If not then $7-8k). Start saving yer pennies. And don't forget to keep $2-3k in the bank *Just in Case*

Im not buying it straight out. My friend is a dealer, and ill let you in on the secret. People go to auctions, and buy cars with a few problems for cheap. Now in an rx7, without the touring package, if all four tires arent matching and there is a tear in the seats, the car goes for 4750$. The dealer then puts 1000$ into it, sells it for 6500$ wholesale to a big time dealer, and they sell it for 9500-10000$. He is going to sell ME the car for 7500 or less, depending its condition. I just watched him talk on his nextel about the price of the car to his partner. I know whats going on
