I mentioned in someone elses recent thread that I'm finally looking into changing out my stock IC. To that end I would like get some input from others that currently have or had aftermarket SMICs.

Obviously performance is important, otherwise I wouldn't be considering it. But I don't track or autoX it, so reliability and ease of fitment are also big. I don't want to do alot of modding for the install. I'd prefer to keep the stock ducting and battery and while I'm still using the stock airbox, eventually I might add a CAI, but it's not real high on priorities right now. Still running the airpump and I've also still got the stock IC hoses and elbow... but if I have to I could go for a Greddy 3 pc. IC set. The only 'mod' I currently have that might affect things is a Fluidyne radiator and aluminum AST.

Are there any SMICs that give meaningful performance increase at stock boost levels and are true simple "bolt-ons", or am I dreaming? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

i have a greddy stock mount forsale if you are interested.

Jim, the PFS stock mount would really be a good choice for you. Not to mention you can get them really cheap now that they are slighty older. The Greddy unit would not be a bad choice either. I'm partial though to the PFS stuff.

I second FD3Boost. The PFS is exactly what you are looking for, 30 minute, no hassle install. Stock battery placement. Works very well.

I feel your pain and watch this thread closely. Right now I'm running stock rad & smic. I've been considering the the greddy smic with fluidyne rad & aluminum ast. How did your fluidyne fit - any issues or minor relocatons?

No real big issues in fitment of the Fluidyne. As with most things it wasn't exactly "drop-in", but not real tough either. I had to dremel about 1/8" off the lip of piece of plastic grille, and just a notch on the fan surround. Neither is visiable. My car is running MUCH cooler though this summer. Well worth the time.

Good story on that too. I found a local supplier for my fluidyne that was about $50 cheaper than any on-line source I checked. And on top of that, they said they would have it in at a certain time and it wasn't. If you are still running with the stock airbox, I don't think that the PFS IC will fit. The olny ones that will fit with the stock intake are greddy and arc (maybe blitz too).



If you want the best, ditch your stock airbox and get a ASP/M2 medium, PFS, or the old style Pettit coolcharge II (the new style is not as good).

PFS IC...and ebay hard pipes with K&N filters and some sort of heat shield will waken your car up!!

GT35R with T4 divided turbine housing intercooled via Vmount...gotta love the radiator fans below out of the engine bay instead of into.



Just need to go down the street and find out when Rick Engman has time to build me a WINNER!!!
