Just got a new rx7.com secondary fuel rail. I noticed that the direction say to cut part of the diffuser off, but when I try and seat the injectors in with the diffuser it doesnt seem like they want to fit, so I tossed the diffuser all together and everything seems to seal up just fine. Is their liturature outdated for an older fuel rail?

Also does it matter which is positive and negative for the replacement injector clips? I never was sure if the polarity matterd on injectors.

pair of cutters. The instructions say to cut off the legs so the force of the 1600cc injectors dont break it.

wtf is the diffuser

its like a plate suspended on 2 plastic rods that sits inside the injector housings to help mix the fuel and air. theyre annoying and easy to forget when putting everything back together

what did u cut off? the plate? cause it seems like that would defeat the purpous of having them in the first place

willjs7 08-13-2005 12:51 PM

well anyone have a pic of them, or the assembly b/c im putting my injectors back together.

I cut off the legs that connect the plate so all there is left is the top ring. The insturctions said to do so because the 1600cc injectors may just blow the crap out of the diffusers. Now when I put what is left of the duffuser back in place (as stated by the instructions) the injectors don't really fit well and tightening the fuel rail makes it look like something is going to break, so I took the diffusers completly out and the injectors seem to fit quite well. I emailed rx7.com about it but I got no reply, nor have I ever gotten an email reply from ANY rx7 parts vendor, is this just common practice?

they usually stay with the side housings. Look in the intake ports from the gasket area, you should see some plastic things in the path of air flow. They sit in the injector seat.

AekaGSR 08-14-2005 12:40 AM

forgot to add that you cant see the secondary diffusers really well since they sit in the intake manifold. The primary ones you can see just fine in the middle iron.

willjs7 08-14-2005 11:18 AM

how did you get them out?

since my engine is in a million peices the intake manifold isnt on. I just shoved my finger through the runners and popped them out that way.
