I got a rebuild kit from racing beat and also in the shop manual they have rubber o-rings that you place between the housing and oil seal set. Is this correct? For the life of me I don't recall any o-rings when I pulled the engine apart. I pulled the rotor off the side housing and the outer oil seal would stick to the housing. The inner seal was still on the rotor. If anyone's got some pic of a rotor before it's put into a rotor housing or placed on the side housing that would be a huge help.

I'm not sure what you are saying.. There are 2 oil control rings on each side of the rotor; outer and inner.

2 water Orings; outer and inner

1 little O-ring that sits around the upper dowel pins..

We had a lot of extra orings and such after from the rebuilt kit..

From what I am getting from the manual the o-rings go in between the oil control ring and side housings. Doesn't make much sense to me to put o-rings in there.



The part number for the inner o-ring is 0820-11-341 and they are green in color.



The Part number for the outer o-rings are 8341-11-343 and they are black.

I think you are talking about the oil control rings inner and outer, they are in a metal holder, and the seal go on the inside and sit on the oil control springs. You might not of noticed them when you pulled the metal part out.

Those look like them. If they fit into the oil control ring grooves of the rotor, chance are, they are them.



I know that there are two oil control rings. These aren't them but they are the same diameter and they are listed in the mazda shop manual, page C-61 in shows (o-ring, new). I just don't remember pulling out o-rings of that size.

the o rings in the pics go inside of a groove on the metal oil control rings to seal them to the rotor

when you put the oil control rings back in make sure the springs are in right there is a painted mark on them (or you can look at them if experiaced enough)
