I'm looking to replace the stock radiator. I keep seeing the same three radiators from PWR, Fluidyne, and Koyo pricing from $375 up to $500. Here are my questions:

1: Which one is the better one?

2: Which ones do you have to make mods to or are they true direct fit?

3: Where can I pick one up cheap? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

1. basically they all perform the same

2. I think with the Koyo you need to relocate your battery. I believe the other 2 are a direct fit.

3. Try www.absoluteradiator.com or any of our usual rx7 sites.

the pwr and the fluidyine are the same, the pwr guy was fired/quit from fluidyne.

the koyo will fit without relocating the battery

I love my Koyo!

Rated R1 02-11-2003 10:16 AM

I have done two koyo installs. I just had to modify the A/C condenser brackets and the lower radiator brackets slightly. No big deal.

ALNY93R1 02-11-2003 11:32 AM

I'm happy with the Koyo.. :bigok:

I dont know your cash situation at the moment, or your mods.

If your in need of a rad, and perhaps a IC. I would recommend going with Chucks (Rotary Extreme) New V-Mount setup.

For the price you pay for the rad now, and IC down the road(if you may need/want one), you can kill two birds with one stone, and possibly get the best setup going right now.

The Kit includes a custom Rad, IC, and all the hard wear to hook it up.

Look into it and see what you think.

If you have a IC, then....oh well.

cheers

i've got a PWR

mjw 02-12-2003 07:59 PM

I have a Fluidyne and it is a straight drop in, I didn't have to modify or cut anything.. the quality is excellent. I am sure the Koyo/PWR are quality products as well..

FikseRxSeven 02-14-2003 01:52 AM

i went with koyo

lane_change 02-14-2003 02:32 AM

I went Fluidyne, I heard it was tought to fit the larger Koyo in with my Blitz FMIC.

ccarlisi 02-14-2003 09:55 AM

I went with a PWR when I installed my FMIC.

IF I HAD A SINGLE I'd get a Griffin Rad. It's the biggest thing you can fit in the car and is used by a lot of the track guys-eg M2's car. As an added bonus they're much cheaper than the other aftermarket units, albeit not a pretty looking-not polished.

I was told by M2 that it won't fit with the stock twins. At the time I was more concerned about installing the IC so I didn't do any further research. Recently I've seen a couple installed with single turbos and I can't see why it wouldn't fit with the stock twins.

vosko 02-14-2003 10:01 AM

i have the fluidyne. haven't seen a griffin from M2. is it custom made for them ?

Would you have to relocate the battery if using the twins w/ the fluidyne?

R1TT 02-15-2003 06:59 AM

my Fluidyne work out pretty good, don't know if it was worth the extra mo tho

RX73rdgen 02-16-2003 07:29 PM

Guys... SR Motorsports had their "Ultimate Radiator" on sale. It's pretty thick. I bough it last week for $385. I don't know if it's still that cheap.

I installed mine but it's for FC, it interferes with the hood requiring the supports to be dented or cut out where the filler cap is... of course they don't mention that on the web site and claim it's a bolton stock replacement...

6thgear 02-18-2003 04:41 PM

anyone know if this rumour is true about the SRMOTORSPORTS Alum.RAD. They say it's the same as KOYO, just srmotorsports buys it and puts their own name on it????

It's the 2.1" thick alum. RAD. (was on sale $389.00) Now $599.00!

RX73rdgen 02-20-2003 01:29 AM

I installed my SR Motorsports "Ultimate Radiator" today. I am happy to report that it fit perfectly with absolutely ZERO modification or adjustments.

It's a nice looking quality piece too. We'll see how it cool on my next mountain climb...
