I went through the common sites for how too's but i didnt really find what i am looking for. I know most men are not supposed to read instructions and just go straight at the work at hand. But i on the other hand am a dumb ass.....no i just like to do things properly and dont like breaking tabs, soooooo...............

I need a how to on getting my instrument cluster out. So far i have just take the steering wheel hub/shroud off and pull on the hood, but that doesnt seem right to me. Dont I have to take the A/C surround apart first?

service manual tells you where all the screws are

You need to remove the steering column shrouds. There is one screw on teh left side where the vent is, under that panel. You need to remove the AC panel, that hides ones screw that is to the left. Then disconnect six connectors. Then tug it firmly straight back. It is clipped in with three slide in connectors toward the front of the cluster. Its really pretty easy once you are familiar with the position of all teh connectors.

AHHHHH so you do have to remove the A/C pannel. In turn means that you have to also take out the center consol cause the two are attached at the radio.

So when removing the A/C section will all the knobs and dials just come out with it?

NO, the AC panel screw is UNDER the gauge hood!!!

turbovr6 03-14-2004 03:17 PM

yes all the a/c controls will come out still attached to the panel. you just have to unplug the wires

Just start pulling the trim pieces - the ones that you'll need out of the way are the steering column surround, the dash door vent (where it goes to the door) and the dash under trim.

All the scres for the hood will be exposed at that point, then it's just a matter of grasping the hood at the 10 and 2 o'clock position, and pulling firmly straight back. It'll offer some resistance, but it should come out.

HAHA ok...thanks man. So I can leave the A/C panel alone then.....looks like me and tiresmoken have a job this weekend https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
