how shud i go about remouinting the radiator to accept a fmic im going to cut the ps pipe and put a small oil cooler in that line and am keeping the air conditioning coz in scotland it gets mad hot yall :P



plan is



take rad out make a braket to hold ac onto the front of the rad and then make a braket to hold the rad onto the front cross beam bolting the intercooler infront of the rad with the brakets it comes with

You can't just disconnect a power rack and call it a manual - running it like that is very bad for it and it won't take it for long.

agreed... for where you live at You don't really need a FMIC. Look into a nice V mount setup, plus it adds more bling to the engine bay. lower coolant temps are more important to me than lower Air intake temps, and the difference between a nice V mount and a FMIC, if the v mount is ducted properly, is not a huge difference if any at all.

how u mean i cant jsut disconect the rack? a v mount kit is alot of dogh unless i custom one from the kit i have its not that cold heer in scotland lol its warmer than ierland

mabe ur thinking of jsut eliminating the ps i dont want to do the i just want to cut the big bendey pipe out and repalce it with a small cooler like one of the guys has done on heer cant mind his user name he has a white car with bnr ns twins lol

I disagree a to an extent. And let me explain why. If both setups are properly ducted, and placement of the FMIC is recessed closer the the radiator coolant temps will not differ as much, yes the FMIC will yeild slightly higher temps because it is not in a direct air pass, more on this later. One of the main reasons everyone claims V-mounts have the best cooling of all setups is because they are a dual pass radiator. Btw a dual pass does not mean twice the cooler temps, but it does mean more cooling efficeincy, every litle bit helps.



On the other hand if you were to do the same with a FMIC, but rather run a triple pass radiator (to keep fitment same as stock/replacements) the same can be said. What is very import, is proper ducting and placement. Recessed FMIC are best like Blitzs and what the tuners in Japan use for their time attack cars. To maximize airflow thru both the IC and rad (like how the AC condensor is placed roughly an inch away from the rad) this is to minimize pressure changes. Most ICs are 6 or more inches away from the radiator, and this causes the air to slow down in the void between the two, secondly I have yet to see any FMIC setups with a ducting.

Replace the bendy pipe with a cooler? I'm lost. So long as it's still working as power steering you should be ok, the internals are a bit different, if you try to convert it to manual you're subjecting the pinion to forces it's not able to cope with.

I understand what your saying yonner. Yes you can take out the stock PS cooler and place another cooler in it's place. Just be sure to use the right fittings for the job.

gona get a nice we motor bike oil cooler for it and stick it out of the road
