Hi

The '94 FD I recently bought came with AutoMeter Sport Comp gauges, boost and water temp, mounted in an A-pillar dual pod. I want to relocate them to a center channel pod.

I disconnected the boost gauge without problem, but the water temp gauge connection at the back of the unit seems to be crimped on there. Can anyone tell me if I can disconnect at the gauge, or do I need to disconnect at the other end, and completely reroute the wiring? Or is there another connector in line so I don't have to do all that?

Thanks

I'm not familiar with the gauge that you have but there can sometimes be a connection further down from the gauge as well as down where the sender unit is. Sorry I can't help you further. You'll really need to check it out yourself.

Could you just cut the wires 6 inches or so down from the guage and splice it after re-routing?

When I bought my car it had a Petitt-Autometer boost guage. IIRC, the wires for that could not be disconnected when I took it off, but not sure how the temp guage is set up.

just snip and reconnect.

Learned that this is a mechanical gauge. Snipping and reconnecting will not work, I am told. I'll need to re-route the line. from the engine bay.
